Asked about merino jerseys a couple weeks back and Torm got some good comments - should be exactly the same SportsWool fabric as Rapha. Lots of sizes are currently out of stock but the chap from Torm reassured me there should be a restocking towards the end of the month. I'm looking for a short sleeve merino top for the odd weekender and will probably pull the trigger on a lovely deep green one once it's available in M again.
I have a long sleeve dhb merino jersey which I've used quite a lot in for the past three years and still going strong bar the odd fabric pull. It feels quite light and not all that "premium" (which seems a word thrown about a lot for the Rapha Classic/Brevet stuff) but does a good job in a surprisingly wide range of temperatures (especially paired with an all merino base layer, in my case also dhb). Have a SS in M that I'll need to shift as it's too small (needs sizing up from the usual dhb stuff for some reason) but might be tempted by another one in L as its LS sibling has been a good workhorse.
My other merino number is an Isadore LS jersey and that's a really lovely and well made top, thicker than the dhb and nice and long in both body and arms (I'm 6'2" and all torso). I'd bet their SS offering would be as nice, thought wouldn't necessarily be cheaper than Rapha.

I had a Vulpine merino jersey a while back that was comfy as hell. I think you have to spend a bit for Merino, so I'd currently favour the Rapha Classic.

Thanks, will take a look at Torm. I like the rapha jerseys too @Squaredisk i find they work very well to layer up and can go into warm spring weather. e.g. I had a short sleeve jersey, arm warmers, insulated gilet and forum aqua ajcket on yesterday for my commute. I think the collar could be a little shorter and I wish there was a loop for hanging up, but it feels nice and works. I quite fancy the putty colour

Just spotted this in Coal Drops Yard.
I believe the Paul in question is Paul Smith.

Any recommendations for shorts that are good for riding but also look ok off the bike for touring.
Like the Rapha Randonee short but hopefully cheaper? -

Have the previous generation of these and still going strong after plenty of commuting. Only available in size M at the moment mind, but half price for that!

2nd Swrve.
Although I do love my rapha randonee shorts, by far the nicest I've ridden in, and still going strong after many years.

Probably not cheaper but Patagonia's are good.
Swrve stuff also excellent.
Have a pair of Fox shorts that were cheap in a sale and they're not bad. -

Ah yes I'd forgotten about swrve. I had some of their trousers ages ago and they were nice.
I've got some Patagonia shorts but some stretch is nice on the bike. -

Vulpine are on sale on sportpursuit I've just ordered one of their LS merino zip through jerseys but their gravel shorts look nice. All looks like nice kit actually

They look perfect thanks.
Does anyone know how vulpine stuff comes up?
I’m a 32” waist but their M is 30”-32” and their L is 32”-34” -

I had (actually still have but don't wear anymore) a pair of Vulpine cycling trousers and they are medium. I'm also a 32" waist and they fit well.

I reckon their sizes are on the large side. I'm 33-34 usually but their jeans were loads too big in L. Exchanged for M and those are fine, nowhere near feeling too small.
Edit: Just to clarify that's jeans not shorts.

Monton is still up on sportpursuit most sizes still available in everything I've looked at. Sizes come up small I'm usually a S/M and ordered a large LS Jersey based on recommendation and size guide. It hasn't arrived yet so can't comment on how it actually fits. Looks like really nice kit i was tempted to have a load up at these prices but too risky if the fit is off. Anyone got any for comment?

Any suggestions for a budget (ideally £50ish) waterproof jacket that's not shit? Doesn't need to be particularly stylish or even cycling specific. I'm looking for something to use as uniform for our cargo bike riders at work so needs to be available in a variety of sizes.

Decathlon have stuff by Regatta on their site at around that price.

Marmot precip available in lots of sizes colours and a women's fit. is similar to the Patagonia torrentshell but cheaper circa but not always £50.
Depending on how many you are after maybe impsport would do you a deal on something like https://shop.impsport.com/cycling/cycling-jackets/drycore-ultrabright-jacket they normally get good reviews as a company that is. They might even be able to brand it for you.

I'll have a look in to those, thanks! Regatta/Decathlon is probably worth a look as well actually.

Has anyone got experience of the Carnac stuff from Planet X? Specifically this waterproof jacket.

Howies maybe worth a look too
If the topic is ‘don’t buy Rapha buy this it’s cheaper and better’ what’s the approved merino jersey?
