  • Manufacturers inconsistent clothes sizing. I have some trousers in a 36”waist which are decidedly loose on me. I need to replace a pair that are going through at the knee so ordered a 34” waist size and though flattering they were so tight I could feel my blood pressure go up and the onset of a headache. And there are no trousers in the next size up anyway.

Also why the fuck do trouser sizes go up in 2” increments?

  • If you want to be even more confused, put a tape around your waist and observe how little your actual waist size corresponds to your jean size. Some high street brands deduct four inches from real size to their brand size.

  • Vanity sizing is really frustrating

Apparently, the circumference of your waist, and your waist size in trousers are different things. Learnt that at the weekend fron the new tailor in Greenwich market. Nice chap.
