Totally normal for paint to flake off the main hinge flange plate things where they clamp together after less than a week of use ?

if on the section where the two physically touch yes, if on an area where metal does not touch metal, no. Have replacement multiple frames for paint pulling off further than the 2 square contacting points.

Thanks - will have a look in daylight - hope just the contact points .
