Everton going down is going to be like Pompey with a crack habit surely?

• #160955
Disappointed Richarlison didn't get sent off. If someone had done that to him he'd have gone down like his leg was broken.
-
• #160956
For sure a red. Surprised VAR did fuck all there

Doucoure on a yellow running over to give Henderson a shove didn't seem like the smartest move either.

The result was expected but the performance was good for me. As much as the handwringing “think of the children” types didn’t like it. Full of heart, fought hard, didn’t roll over, should have done better with a few chances, might have had a penalty. Kopites still gobshites, up the fucking toffees.

Yeah he was bit lucky I reckon

Do you think the konate on Gordon thing was a 🖋? Or was there another incident. Only had half eye on the game. But agree that Everton put in a lot of fight

I went to Oldham v Spurs in 1994 which was a relegation 6-pointer

It was a bit soft but you see them given. Admittedly not for an away team at Anfield. Salah gets a penalty for that 7/8 times out of 10. Edit: The Matip challenge, that is ^

Just catching up with this thread, so here's a delayed "fuck off".
Already arranged the Pride Park away day next year with a Derby supporting colleague. Hope he doesn't enjoy the train back.

Don't worry very few of them in the championship.

purple hue again
Maybe your red tinted specs? But seriously, no need for any of that shite. Had to doff the hat to the Alison trolling, if you give it out you have to take it.

Arf! No VAR too which is a bonus. I think I've kind of made peace with the increasing inevitability of dropping out of the premier league. A bloke I know who's a STH has been resigned to it for a while and genuinely thinks it's going to be good for us. To quote: "I guess it's whether you'd rather have the groundhog day of us underperforming season after season, winning fuck all, getting beaten by the Shite, and finishing between 7th and 17th for the rest of your life, with the tiny one percent hope of it changing, or whether you're prepared - ok, resigned - to seeing something a bit different for a while. Me, I'm okay with it. It's still football."

Hmmm, tell that to Leeds fans in 2004.
Frank Lampard was such a bad appointment. Should have gone all in on Graham Potter.

So much this.

Everton are, sadly, such a poorly run club that the appointment of Lampard was the latest in a long line of poor appointments. Moshiri/Usmanov haven't a clue, and just make bad decision after bad decision. As an Arsenal fan it feels like we dodged a bullet (even if Kroenke is a passive owner).

Can't disagree with any of that, Lampard has at least improved the mood a bit. Whilst Benitez is obviously leagues ahead in terms of experience and 'tactical nous' (the kind that gets you one in in 14 games) he was such a toxic appointment he just ended up sucking the life out of the fans and the team. That'll be the biggest kicker as and when we go down. The board listen to the fans when they shouldn't and don't listen when they should. Various twitter types are saying Kia Joorabchian (sp?) is in Moshiri's ear and we basically just end up making money for that leach. I don't know how true it is but it's hard to imagine a man with Moshiri's business credentials is capable of making such consistenly bad decisions as he has without some sort of other influence.
I'll see this more like Newcastle in 09 and Villa 5-6 years back. Graham Potter very tacitly summed up our issues when asked about the job after Benitez was sacked, he basically said 'You don't do this in a bubble, there's lots of people involved behind the scenes making the team work' and that, quite simply is what we've done a spectacularly bad job of.

As a Newcastle fan, I can tell you that the Championship season after the first 'recent' relegation was spectacularly fun. We won almost every week, which made a change.
However, if you think back to the 10 years after that it wasnt exactly roses. There was a good season under Pardew rewarded with a fun but short European campaign (I went to Bruges and Bordeaux), but the rest has been shite. Yoyoing, Mclaren, latter Pardew, Kineer, Wise,Bruce et al.
The only way to truly break the 7th-17th curse is to have your club acquired by a toxic nation state, and take it from me, you don't want that either. I would go back to dreaming of the 7th Place Everton Cup Trophy.

This. Championship is a better league than the PL (quality of football aside) and coming down to the league with a good squad is fun. The challenge is getting back out again. It's a great league because it's super competitive.
We're really struggling this time and teams like Villa, Wolves, Stoke, Fulham etc etc have all missed getting back into the PL at the first time of asking, even with good squads.
What you really don't want, is to still be there after the parachute payments dry up.

Is Origi the best 6th choice forward in premier League history? He has got a goal every 91 minutes on the pitch this season across all comps.

• #160975
Jermain defo is top. Tor Andre flo will be in there somewhere too. Good feet for a big man
fat franky channelling mourihno and simeone to negative football his way into the relegation zone
that was an embarrassing 1st half
origi just gets even more folk hero every time he comes on to the pitch
