Yeah they are terrible magnets for slugs and snails. I have done moats but also resorted to pellets which generally I try to avoid.

The De Ree seeds that didn't so last year now came up & the primulas are very happy in the new spot.
More to plant there, aim to cover the ground fully. The garden is teeming with life, lift something and there are spiders or bugs or pupae / caterpillars.
Bonus photo from the neighbours wood pigeon young.

After having been rather underwhelmed by my crosuseseses, I'm delighted by the tulips that have followed them.

Spanish bluebells are pretty aggressive about taking over...

Not as bad as Russian ones....

That's at the front where they are competing with weeds and leylandi so good luck to them.

I bought bluebell seeds, but they don't like full sun, right?
In that case I need to clear a space in The Swamp (aka the back) of the garden.

Whilst I'm no stranger to taking cuttings from my own plants, we were in receipt of a bunch of flowers last year that had a lovely white Hydrangea in it.
I trimmed the flower off and bunged the stem in a pot and viola, I've now planted it out this year. Allium and Ranunculus both will be in flower soon.

They won't root in water.
I stuck two in spaghnum moss & 1 in pot soil inside, after a month or so they rooted.
I took the fresh of a plant the neighbours were dumping.
Garden articles mention rooting powder, I didn't need it but maybe that will help?

I've been playing with sandstone again, harvest mix this time, I think it's my new favourite.

I'm particularly pleased with the drain cover (which couldn't be rotated due to the internals).

Just moved into a house with a garden. Bottom half is 6 patches of about 1x2M with random walls, steps through middle etc. It’s all basically empty other than some bushes I’ve cut to stumps. Soil is awful clay topped with rubble and sticks. Loads of bindweed is rearing its head.
I don’t really know anything about gardening – any ideas of how to get started? We’re thinking of just planting a bunch of ornamental stuff near the house, then next winter get it really sorted, do a veg patch up the top etc. -

Is the clay underneath dry and soild yet? Or is it still workable?

👏 stunning
I've had a surprise one appear, I definitely didn't plant this. Maybe a gift from our local garden designer squirrel.
