GONE - Bowman Palace 3 Disc - 56cm frameset

  • We all know the story now so I won't go over it again. No visible issues with my frame so far and it's been ridden about 2000km but I personally can't be riding something that could break, no matter how unlikely it may be.

Hence why I'm giving away the frame for free, my conscience couldn't be dealing with taking money for something that may not be safe.
I'd probably get someone who knows about welding to check it out before putting it together.

I must say that it's a lovely bike to ride, really enjoyable geometry. There's plenty of steerer left on the fork.

I'll provide headset and seatpost clamp as well, both were slightly non standard sizes that were a bit of a pain to get hold of. I left the cable outers in to help with routing, I was running the bike with mechanical disc brakes. Bottle cages come with the bike as the bolts were made of soft cheese and I managed to round them which I've never managed before.

As it's free I'm afraid I won't be washing the thing, collection only which is from Brockley, SE4.

Warning - Page is run by a sexist wanker, unfortunatelty it's a sexist wanker who does have a much better understanding of engineering than I do.

  • Provisionally dibs'd by PM

  • 2nd dibs please

  • This seems a really bad reason to give away a frame you've ridden 2000km without problems (I presume). Though great for whoever takes it. If they're really as catastrophically flawed as that internet prick makes out then you'd have probably have heard of a lot more serious injuries associated with them, given the number of them they must have sold.

  • Christ, why did I start reading the comments on a hambini article? Depressing. These people are the worst.

  • Check out the comments on here:

    https://www.facebook.com/bowmancycles.uk

Also have a local bike shop mate who's seen quite a few come in with cracks.

As I said above, mine might be absolutely fine but I'm not keen on taking the risk, must be something to do with being a new dad.

  • They're probably as good/bad as most aluminium frames of that type. Personally I tend to worry about forks, brakes, bars and front wheels as far as things that would be very very bad if they failed suddenly. Other stuff unlikely to be that disastrous. Can understand you being cautious, but Internet stuff about things breaking is obviously quite self selecting, as mostly people with bad experiences post.

  • Does he though? The article seems to be full of fluff, with nothing substantiating anything of what he’s proposing aside from random pictures and allegations.

Is he a specialist aluminium welder to be making these accusations? What’s this persons background. There’s a lot of ‘key’ words used that’s seem to be pulled from said google searches..

It just looks like someone chopped up a frame and threw jargon words to make an article, with contributor comments that were written by people with the mental capacity of a fucking tea spoon.

  • it’s highly likely that people commenting on the hambrini thing are riding a frame built in the same factory without realising it.

  • He winds a lot of people up but his engineering seems sounds. By day I believe he's an aeronautical engineer and the impression I get is that compared to the tolerances and quality he expects working in the aeronautics sector, the engineering in the bike sector is really bad yet still costs top money

  • 3rds dibs

  • Yeah Hambini is a cunt.

And you are off your tits to give this away free because of it.

  • 100% agree he's a c word.

I've already mentioned above why I'm giving away for free and also the other reasons I'd rather give it away.

Don't particularly care about making any money, maybe whoever gets it can donate to the forum whatever they would have been willing to pay for it.

99% sure the frame will be absolutely fine and whoever gets it will really enjoy riding it.

  • If it doesn’t go to whomever is above me, give me a shout. I’ll take it
