Just go XT cranks and you'll have a much nicer setup without the bother.
That and some blacked out R7000 calipers.

Looking for opinion on h+son archetype hard ano version for a project - how hard is it actually? comparable to exalith (i dont think so) or dt swiss oxic (either)? 1k km? 2k km? before wear of anodizing? anyone?
lot of question, nothing to give atm.. -

It will wear off pretty quickly, I would just consider the rims to have a shiny machined braking surface when you buy them. Because that’s what they will end up.

thanks for that but i have 2nd opinion of lasting at least 2k km. and since i'm into alu rims with dark/black brake side i'm willing to take the risk..

i'm into alu rims with dark/black brake
Hard anodised isn't all that dark. Varies a bit depending on process and base alloy, but it's never anywhere near black.

that's why i'm talking about specific model.

Will be fine until you ride in the rain
Edit: Just checked my old Serotta thread and it was 77 dry miles before the ano started going. Reports that swissstop greens may prolong this for ~500 miles

Got the summer bike ready with a little help from my mechanic (cheers @Dick) so several weeks of rain is now guaranteed.

Hey Gang1 Ive got this sat in the UK & wanting to find it a good home (likely via LFGSS) ... however, For now I need to identify what exactly it is / might be.
I got what I believed to be a fair deal on it - through LFGSS - Years ago! And was informed it was likely a 80's Bianchi Pista-type frame ... Columbus Steel. it's DEF steel, thats for sure!
I would imagine the engraved coding on the head tube might give it away - but I have no idea. Any thoughts? #puzzle
Any ideas would be extremely appreciated!

Banger! Do you still have the forks that match that stem?

Looks to me like a quite heavily modified old road frame....
There's a little brazed-on stop on the DT for band on shifters so it started out as a geared road bike.
Little bits of chainring at the brake bridge and bracing the NDS track end are cute but would not be original and presumably added at the same time as the track ends. Bottle bosses on the downtube might also have been added then ( the rest of the bike looks old enough to pre-date bottle bosses.
That said, it's a fun looking frame with some quirky additions and a decent quality build.
If you want more precision on who made it, there's a thread for that: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/169078/?offset=6200#comment16478449 -

Saw this paint job on insta a while ago, by a country mile the best pint job I’ve ever seen on a bike. Nice work, don’t ever sell, just hang it on a wall.
Bloody hell, must be a smart pub
