  • It looks pretty expensive. You'd need to be fairly desperate for a property out of your budget and have some form of exit route planned to make it an option I'd say.

  • We have left it later in life to get a mortgage. I am 45, partner is 43. Spent twenties travelling, and more recent years my partner took a few years off to raise kids, is back working now. We don't have an expensive lifestyle so can afford to pay more on repayments than a bank would loan out. As callous as it sounds both parents are elderly and there'll be some money coming to us in later years, so that's the exit route if we can't overpay it earlier. Looking at other options but to get a bigger place in a nicer spot this looks like the only one for now.
