I’m also building my younger cousin a bike. He is a wonderful young man, but he has had a rough couple of years.
Last time I saw him I realized that he takes 3 different subways and trains to get to his high school 7km away. The route from his home takes him through a nice forest and even a small detour can take him on some wonderful gravel roads. So I offered to build him a bike and he is really looking forward to it and wants to build it with me and learn how to do it.
His father is italian, and when this popped up locally I bought it on a whim. Huge clearance for tires and mudguards and lots of potential but I have to cut back on the German touring look. I hope to make it nice enough to get him into using it, but I also don’t want to force my ideals of cycling onto him. It’s a hard balance.

I’ve added saddle and seatpost so far
