  • I'm in Cheshire, but thanks very much for the offer. I'm gonna give it a go, nothing ventured nothing gained.

  • Ha yeah, bit far! I guess if camping mat doesn’t work, how about correx topped with foam or old fabric (towel?)? Might lose a little space though but should stop the rattle?

  • I was thinking of something similar, stop the sagging between the bagman rails. Be interested to see how you get on, I just put the bag out of sight until I finish a few other projects.

  • @C4r1s, I'll try foam on it's own to start with, see how it goes, then add correx if it isn't upto snuff.
@atk, yep saggy bag is not great. It's fine at the start of a ride, but once the cake and butties have gone it's just sat there looking all limp.
I'm gonna get some webbing stitched to the bottom front edge, then make myself one of them Uncle Ronnie Romance front (not)rack devices, so it'll hang off my bars without sagging into the front tyre. Final option will be buying a bag from Wizard Works.

  • Think I saw somewhere (quite possibly ctc forum) that a favourite cheap option is to web some zip ties across at the back where it bends, and then one to the rear of the bagman attached to the rail in the middle to stop between rail sag. I’ve never found it much of a problem, but seemed a neat solution

  • That would probably work. Don't remember this being a problem with the canvas bags, just the new the lightweight version of the audax.

  • I just took delivery of a Pendle this afternoon. It's a beauty and I'm so glad that I have just enough tyre clearance with it strapped to the seat post. It fits my 1 man tent, footprint and sleeping pad and no more. I took days of deliberating over which one to get and I went through pretty much every page of this thread.
Does anyone know if there's a reason why I cant mount a Nitto M18 on the back as a support with P clips on the seat stays?

Also if anyone is here from =~tHE FutURe##- looking back for info on saddle to tyre clearance give us a message and I'll get the tape measure out.

  • Correx plus a thin layer of foam from a yoga mat works nicely for me.

  • Yep, think that's the way I'm gonna go, when I eventually get round to doing it.

  • If round you is anything like round by me, there’s lots of the corex estate agent boards that have blown down. Shame for them to go to waste…

  • Actually, now you mention it, there may be one at the back of the shed from before I moved in, will investigate this weekend.

  • I use an old bit of decathlon exercise mat. Works well with the advantage you can take it out to sit on it at the rest stop.

  • Not having read the entire thread, How does the classic support fare?
I have a non-brooks saddle without loops with a bagman qr. It's great, but I did have it come loose, and the clamp's real estate on the rails precludes some adjustment for the saddle position. I use the lowsaddle longflap.
The classic support would sort out the clamp-adjustment problem, but I'd need to get those extra loop mounts, and then the rack, which is a bit pricey, and not sure how tight the whole system would be in the end.

  • A camper longflap in green, made by Emma. And a classic rack (no name).

  • Anywhere in London sell 'cyclo loops'? One rattled loose on the cobbles today and the place I bought them from no longer exists. I thought of bikefix but the website appears to be workshop only?

  • I’ve got one you can have. PM me your address if you want it.

  • Slightly related, anyone used cyclo loops with a Carradice Classic rack? Does it work?

  • I'd be nervous about attaching everything to the cyclo loops, i.e. fine with a bagman or pannier rack. They only use a pair of small threaded screws through a backplate with a channel in it, gripping round saddle rails. Iffy.

  • Anyone fancy a Carradice Cadet? I’ve got one over in classifieds for £20 Ono.

  • View from the saddlebag, not greatest vid but worked ok-ish:

  • Where's that then? Old lines heading upto Walkden looks very similar.

  • Fallowfield loop, I guess lots of these old lines up here look very alike.

  • Ah, haven't done the FL, will have a look next time I'm heading up that way.

  • Well worth checking out, there's a great new bikey cafe in Levy called Station South.

  • That on the A6, just up from the antiques place?
