• Anyone know anything about tree lilies? I had 3 planted in a pot last year, did pretty well. This year loads of little ones are coming up plus the three big ones. I assume they've seeded - can I transplant the seedlings into new pots or is there another approach I haven't considered? Cheers

  • The little ones are interesting - we usually remove the seed pods on ours after flowering.

Given how big they grow (we have "Nymph", which easily gets to about 2 metres tall) I'd dig them out and repot for sure.

I think we planted 3 tubers (right term?) a few years ago. This year we have 11 shoots coming up so they will multiply even without setting seed. I don't know how long it takes to go from a seedling to a mature plant - maybe it's one season, maybe it's 10 years??

  • Thanks for this! I read about removing the seed pods about an hour ago, so clearly didn't do so last year. Amazing if they'll develop into new plants, I think I'll leave them a little while (mostly because I'm away now till wednesday) then see how the transplant goes.... cheers
