I don't mind a shared bus lane but you can understand why lots of people aren't keen at rolling along at 10mph with a bus up their arse.

Seems preferable to negotiating the river of rubbish and distracted / phone-absorbed peds crowding bus stops in this setup.

Where this system has been implemented on King Street in Hammersmith, the bus lane has disappeared entirely, meaning that the bus now crawls at <5 mph in the general traffic lane rather than doing 10 mph behind cyclists.

Those caused a big stir in the local Nextdoor forums. They're a pretty piss poor solution granted but I personally don't know a better one. Placement is laughable though.

Peds are the most vulnerable road users - they have to share their bus stop with cyclists and scooterpeople in this scenario. It's really not ideal.

The bus drivers here are the worst. They are guaranteed in every single circumstance to do what makes their life easier whether that means endangering another road user or pedestrian or not. I know it’s a big problem for riding around the centre of the city for riders with lower levels of experience or confidence.

I have an acquaintance who has gone from running tech startups that fail to a sort of self-declared startup-executive mental health guru. He recently wrote an article for the online edition of a magazine recently somehow making the Russian attack on Ukraine about him. Self-centred dicks always have a feeling that they have a bigger place in the world than they do.

That said, we are talking about Piers so I guess it works.
