  • ^ wow wow wow wowwee wow. I just checked the rest of her Twitter feed. Fuck me 😑

  • What always amazes me most is yeah it’s a bit out there, we all have out there moments, but it’s how far you have to stretch to have that out there moment purely to stop refugees.

  • So she thinks a French far right government would stop refugees leaving France to go to another country? Is she mad? They'd be putting on ferries for them to get rid.

  • Everything about her is a bit silly, but my favourite is that she has srsly deep issues with Oxbridge types yet she attends Durham. Means she got through the exams, thought she was in, then failed the interview.

  • I was going to post exactly the same when I read this earlier!!

  • More baffling, she wants to be the head the Durham Students Union when absolutely nobody at Durham University cares about the students union.

  • failed the interview

I wonder why that might've been? She seems like an absolutely lovely person.

  • She seems like an absolutely lovely person.

Yeah, which is what she thinks, and why it's burning inside of her.

  • If she’s studying performance art - the double act with Leilani Dowding re trans rights on GB News was a strong showing - then a first surely beckons but if that’s not the case then It’s a strong WTF

  • So what, you can only fly?

  • Oxbridge types yet she attends Durham.

There were tonnes of Oxford grads in my law class, and it always stunned me how big of a chip all the people from the other top unis had on their shoulders.

"Yeah, I applied for Oxford, but I'm actually really glad I didn't get in now because [insert reason]."

  • Anyway...

Actually came to ask if anyone has driven down to the channel tunnel recently?

Are the tailbacks for normal drivers as well, or is it just for lorries? What sort of time did it take you vs normal?

    Cheers.

  • I'm going in early May but I've been when lorry stacking has been in place before. Cars are fine.

  • absolutely nobody at Durham University cares about the students union

Didn't need to add the 'Durham' there

  • Is it the Union Society or the Students' Union she's after? @ric_a5

  • Whichever is the debating club / Tory breeding ground

  • The Union Society then. That makes more sense, since most people don't care about it, but those that want to get involved in its committee (as opposed to using it for cheap drinks and the occasional topical debate) should be viewed with deep suspicion.

  • President of the SU. The whole profile doesn't make much sense though, they say University isn't a place to preach politics, whilst at the same time preaching about their political stance.

  • I found Durham to be a whole other level to Newcastle on their dismissiveness of it, pretty much actively against it's existence. Was actually quite jaring how much people were into the college allegiance thing from my experience of it. In my year there I only went to the SU once I think and that was for a CAMRA beer festival.

  • Cheers.

I'll let you know how I get on.

  • President of the SU. The whole profile doesn't make much sense though

The point about being President is to add to your CV and getting paid to spend another year at uni.

Idk what everyone else's was like but to get elected at mine you needed to be able to be an excellent organiser, come up with a catchy hook, and convince a key cohort* to not just vote for you but to actively back you and get people in to vote.

All of which to me sounds a lot more impressive and useful to the working world that being captain of a sports team and making fixture rotas.

*mainly the Rugby and football teams, and popular girls.

  • It's been a cluster fuck down here, Dover was at stand still for days, the A20 from Maidstone was 4mph for most of the way to Ashford, lots of alternative routes getting back up due to hgv's trying to beat the queues and locals trying alternative routes. It did seems to ease off over the weekend but starting to back up again. P&O still aren't running but might be again next week.

best check the local news nearer the time,.

  • Sounds fun. I was thinking of heading to Belg in a couple of weeks to ride a bike.

Can you even buy fuel in London anymore though? Coz I don't think I'd make it down there now if that's true.

  • Can you even buy fuel in London anymore though?

Yes, all stations back open until the next panic induced shortages. Spendy though.

  • Bit too late to invest in trains I guess.
