Risky choice for gold chain, but I'm quite sure I can get away with. From experience I know they get more dull after a few rides. Difficult to get the frame colour right with my crappy phone.

Sorry to hear about the crash, hope you heal up soon. Great parts and colour choice on the Master, really like where this is going and it can definitely get away with the gold chain!

Loving the master build (although the others are also special in their own way), how does it ride? Master campag build is a dream for me one day, modern bits like that - a real MGOF machine 😍
Hope the wrist is healing well

Thanks, all is healing well but wrist is still in cast until start of may. So no real road experience until than unfortunately. Bike is finished though, so I did a first ride on the roller trainer today. The ride was, well, stationary. No road buzz.
Happy how the cockpit turned out. Flat top Bontrager bars with internal cable routing. As mentioned on earlier pages, the stem & bars standard finish was matt black, but I've painted & varnished them to get a high black gloss finish. The top cap is also custom made from a piece of carbon.
More and better pictures soon, when I have the chance to.

Outstanding work. Have been following for a while and have not been disappointed. How did you machine the top cap, cnc?

Super cool build, the bars and stem look great as does the tape job. Sorry to read about your broken wrist but it'll be worth the wait to heal up and ride by the look of it!

Thanks. It's just a piece of carbon fibre / epoxy that was cut to measure to fit the stem. Logo in spraypaint, than 2K varnish. I've mounted a thin alu washer on the back to get a nice recessed look. The cap is glued on the adapter with two dots of flexible silicone glue. Easy enough to remove, more than strong enough to keep it in place.

No riding for now, but did some sessions on the rollers with the Master so far. Looking forward to ride it in the open. I consider it finished now, so I made some outdoor pictures today. More pictures can be found here: https://www.pedalroom.com/bike/colnago-master-piu-47215

Sleepless nights before putting it on... :). They'll get more dull once used.
Thanks!

With the brown tinge on those Campy rings and the faint hint of brown in the epoxy of the rims, it all ties in with the gold paint beautifully.
If you can make all the colours on your bike by changing brightness and saturation on the one hue, I'd say you're onto a winner.
I would like to see it on some dark gumwalls, like Conti did in the 80s and 90s, and briefly did again a few years back on a special edition of the GP4000, sadly 23mm only...
That colour sidewall somehow adds a badarse flavour IMO, like hardox rims on a 70s bike. Such a bummer Conti didn't bring back those gumwalls for good.

Bike is ready for some time now, did some good rides on it, also today. Joy to ride, although I would have expected to have slightly more comfort in the front end with the steel fork. Or we're getting to spoiled in this 28mm+ tubeless-era... Considering to change the 25mm to 28mm in the future. Bike feels faster than expected, though that might have to do with the 52t instead of 50-34 that I'm used to. High wheels also give it a nice buzz. Just some annoying chain rattle noise that I need to find out, that only happens in 2 cogs in the back. Happy!

Extremely stylish and easy on the eyes, well done. A mix of Italian extravagance and conservative tastefullnes. Like a handsome scandinavian expat in Italy, with a golden chain on his collar.

The best of Colnago. Flair but not garish.

lovely, if you ever want to sell (can;t think why you would) let me know as I'm probably one of maybe three guys on the forum that's tall enough to ride it :D

The frame size is 61 c-c so it's not that extremely big...
-
• #121
Correct. It's a 61cc and looks quite big with the horizontale headtube. My gravel bike has +- the same headtube length as they master (20,5cm) but a sloping tt and you wouldn't say it's extremely big bike. I'm 1,87m myself, big, but not a giant either right :)
But in those bigger sizes, you'll often find the masters in freuler geometry. And to me, that's the bike equivalent of a Fiat Multipla.

Sooooo... Nearly 3 years after respraying the Faggin (see pg 2), It's finally time to build. I ended up collecting a nearly full Cambio Rino group. Not the most common or known brand but a nice relief from all the Campagnolo SR bikes out there. More info on Cambio Rino: https://www.disraeligears.co.uk/site/rino_derailleurs.html. Why Rino? Because the original seatpost was Rino. I acquired some Rino downtube shifters after refinishing the frame. Than, 2 years passed where nothing happened. Than, by accident I scored a very nice Rino crankset. That was the trigger to gather a nearly full group (BB, cranks, pedals, clips, hubs, seatpost, shifters, Crono derailleurs, headset). Only brakes and levers will be Modolo.
I've already build the wheelset around a nice black pair of Rino hubs, with Ambrosio rims.
Slowly, but I'll get there in the end...

Sooooo, almost 7 years have passed after acquiring a rusty and old Faggin bike. At that moment, almost ready for the skip. Happy to finish this slow burner this week.
Almost complete Cambio Rino group including pedals & toeclips and a nice alu headset. Modolo Corsa brakes, Concor saddle & Ambrosio rims. 3ttt cockpit. DIY paintjob.

Good news: I requested to adapt some small details in the decals into black/white/red colours to match the Record logo's on derailleurs, brakes & shifters, and it looks great.
Bad news: an idiot in a car hit me on (another) bike yesterday. Wrist is broken so no bike building the following day's/weeks...
