  • As an asides what is so great about Catford? A guy I know lives on bankhurst Road in what I can only describe as a fairly grim and overextended semi on a very steep hill. Apart from a big plastic cat i am not sure what exactly the positives are from moving there unless you are actively seeking to get cancer from the poor air quality that seems to result from its proximity to the south circular.

What draws anyone to any area in London? The particular set of compromises of that area cause you least pain. Objectively nowhere is that great when you balance cost versus amenities versus whatever else.

  • bankhurst Road

Seems like a good location - 5min from 2 different train lines, 10 min from the overground, catford town centre. It's a fairly quiet road so I imagine the air quality's not bad at the house. The steep hill is Blythe Hill which has a nice park with great views at the top, and it's only a few minutes from Ladywell Fields at the bottom of the hill, another great park with a different character (more play and exercise space, small river, cafe etc). You can get around by bike on the back streets and largely avoid main roads. If you think catford is not attractive enough as a town centre you can walk to Ladywell or Brockley (from Bankhurst rd) for fancier shops and restaurants. I'm not really sure what you're expecting but seems like a pretty good location. Maybe it's just a crap house.

It's just people yerning to live in the suburbs while saying they live "in" London

  • You know that living in Catford is just a forum in-joke right? No one actually lives there.

Amey lives in a period correct Georgian town house in Swiss Cottage.
