• From what I remember the soil pipe (blue) went something like this to go from the toilet at the front to the existing soil pipe at the back. The little step (red) just allowed it to start with a bit of extra height to get the drop.

  • Ahhhh really interesting, I couldn't get my head round how people put bathrooms by stairs. Do you know how they got the soil pipe through the steels? Your place looks like an awesome layout too, hate to be dad head but the octagon room would make such a cool kids space.

    How it works out

  • When we were looking at different layouts for our loft and thinking of having the bathroom at the front of the house the builder was saying they can make the steels with holes in for the soil pipe to run through. Obviously having holes in the steels was going to add cost and I think they would need to use a slightly narrower pipe too. As it turned out we decided to have the bathroom in the middle and so the pipe just went straight out and connected with the stack.

  • There was the thought of putting a cot in that end but then we moved so it was all academic, first floor flat and a small child isn't the best combo.

Good question on the steels and I've no idea. We had three steels running side-to-side at the front, middle and back. Fairly sure they weren't specifically designed to allow it through as we were still discussing about macerator or whether it could be avoided after the steels went in.
