Brompton Late 2020 Raw Lacquer Special Edition in immaculate condition.

The current drivetrain features a 1-speed 56t chain ring and 12t sprocket. I am a mechanic at Brompton Junction in London so this can be converted to a 2-speed if the buyer prefers. It can also be sold with a choice of either the black S stem as pictured, or the original H raw lacquer stem. It comes with a rare T-Line carbon seatpost which will retail for £160 when they're available for sale.

All components are nearly new and the bike has been expertly serviced. No chips or scratches.

A beautiful build and one of a kind. I’m based in London so a collection or rendezvous is preferred. Happy to answer any questions. Open to realistic offers.

This would sell much easier without any confusion, just set the spec exactly as is, single speeds are far less popular than a 2 speed and I would source a raw s type stem if you can.

Plus, t line seatpost, flog that alone and fit a standard steel for sure.

As the ad says, it can be supplied as original. With the standard 2-speed and the original Raw stem. Although this is a H. The Brompton online groups are a world into their own. I assume you're part of their admin politburo.

I'm not a current Brompton owner/rider, but the gearing on this confuses me. 52x12 is a pretty large gear on a normal road bike. Is there a reason it's so big on this?

54x12 on a Brompton is approx 75"
so around 45x16 on a normal 28mm 700c

Feller. I didn't ignore you. I listened. And decided to keep as is. I'd rather not convert the thing back to a H if a S will sell just as easily. Should a would-be buyer want a H then I will convert. I wish you luck and happiness with the online Brompton stuff.

I used to ride 58X12 on a Brompton and it was pretty much spot on for 90% of London terrain - as above the smaller wheels mean acceleration is a lot easier but top end speed suffers, so a much higher gear is needed to maintain anything above 25kph without spinning at 200rpm!

I get the exact same top speed out of it mate. Regarding the single speed, I'm adamant it's all you need in London if you're familiar with using a fixed gear or road bike. I run a Mash at 53/15 and the 56/12 on the Brompton is way easier. The simplicity of the SS is great too. Easier and lighter carrying it around Aldi. If you remain keen give us a shout and obviously the price is negotiable.

What you got to spend?

No fixed budget, entirely depends on the condition / spec etc. Just after a standard 3 speed raw lacquer, rather than something special or fancy like this.

Is this rideable at 6’ 4”?
Does it need longer seatpost/different bars?

fwiw I'm 6'3" / 92cm pbh, I need the telescopic seatpost to get the seat up to my usual position (~62cm end of seatpost to rails vs ~58/60cm for the longest one-piece seatposts). For the front-end, for me the M stem&bars put the handlebars about level with the saddle, so depends what posture you want.
