  • Yep, as far as I understand those carry thermobaric rockets.

Amazing content, could watch uncut version of it for hours.

  • I wonder if it's part of information war to lift the spirits

This obviously isn't meant to be a pro-Russian comment, but propaganda cuts both ways. Zelenskyy has an absolutely shit hot PR team. Look at the success of "Russian warship, go fuck yourself".

I don't think people factcheck that often. And in this case so what? What does the image show?

It shows you a fucked war zone and what it was like before. That is the purpose.

I wonder if part of the inspiration was the Afghanistan ones that were doing the rounds a while ago:

  • It's good to see the NYT and others confirm that there have been some executions of Russian soldiers by the Ukrainian military. Was a bit worried that it would not get attention when spotted.

All eyes on Zelensky and Ukraine to see how they deal with it. Hopefully swiftly and unequivocally.

  • Just out of curiosity what was the missile system in that YouTube video?

  • First comment there answers your question:

If any body was wondering : The weapon used is a Ukrainian made ( by
State engineering firm Luch ) ATGM (Anti tank guided missile) called
Skif or Stugna ,it fires 130 or 155 mm anti ERA rockets and has
manual (by joystick) and "FF" laser guidance ( fire and forget)
system. The whole system weights about 100 KG and has a range about 5
km .The briefcase/ laptop control panel with the joystick is a PDU 215
which is attached by wire to the launcher.

  • Think I’ve broken myself as I mentally shrugged and thought good when I read this. Need to jump of the news train for a while and reconnect with humanity.

  • James Nachtwey shooting for New Yorker:

Utterly grim as everything else by Nachtwey. Feels surreal to see his work being so current and so close.

Strong images so think twice before clicking

  • Oh fuck this is getting dark.

  • what? Anaything new?

  • Yes, two rockets hit a train station building in Kramatorsk in the east, where civilians had gathered hoping to flee to safer parts of Ukraine.

  • Washington Post had a photo story from Bucha yesterday documenting very very very graphically that civilians had been beheaded. Medieval ISIS stuff.

  • Fuckin hell, this is just spiraling downwards. I wonder how long Nato can stay on the sideline. Not sure if they're better there or actively involved.

  • Just checked it. A cluster bomb. Hard to even grasp the thought of it.

  • I want so much for NATO to intervene.

Genocide is happening in Europe in 21st century and we're not doing enough.

Hell, Germany is dragging its feet and Macron is like 24/7 emotional support line for Putin.

  • The saying “a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic” really hits different when you see stuff like this.

  • Macron is like 24/7 emotional support line for Putin.

Do you think it'd be better for everybody to just stop talking to Putin?

  • I think they’re treading a very narrow path between muscling in and stopping the war with force and trying to avoid future excuses for Russia to attack another country.

If NATO engaged now, it’ll be the end of this war, but could be the ticket Russia needs for a future, even worse, war

  • Supposedly, the lettering on the side of this rocket outside Kramatorsk station spells "for the children".

  • I think the west shouldn't have anything to do with Russia.
Full on embargo, club north Korea. No visas, no import/export, nothing.

Yes, some countries are too dependant on their resources, this should be addressed and worked on. Changes like this don't and won't happen overnight.

Entire Eastern Europe is still crippled from the damage of Soviet Union and it seems that the attitude of Russia didn't change much from good old soviet days.

  • It's as if a death cult has been building up in Russia for some time without us really realising it. I mean, we knew there were the horrible authorities, and we worried about the many extremists. But now it feels like there must have been a far larger proportions of the Russian populace that has completely lost any sense of the value of human life.

I also wonder if this isn't some sort of world record in going from zero to atrocity. History is full of violence, but the stuff from Bucha etc. is the sort of stuff you'd expect to happen a couple of years into a horrible civil war. Stuff carried out by soldiers who have seen their own home towns bombed to bits by the enemy. Or they might have been hardened by living in a semi lawless state for decades, like in areas of Mexico or El Salvador. But these Russian guys are just a month into the attack and their homes back in Russia haven't been harmed in the slightest.
