  • Just picked up Elden Ring since I've got pages of lfgss guide right here. Looking forward to booting it up tonight

  • You’re right it is. I can pick up a Xbox s today. What’s the catch? Is PlayStation 5 worth hunting down or is it just hype and I am over thinking?

  • 👀 Playstation is always the way to go

Sounds like 100% not worth the hunt ATM though

  • From the sounds of it you'd be able to get a Series S now and easily get your moneys worth out of it by the time the PS5 will be easier to get a hold of.

  • by the time the PS5 has anything worth playing that's not already on PS4

  • I signed up for stockinformer alerts last year and got a PS5 pretty quickly.

I don't think there's much in it in terms of hardware between the Series X and PS5. Which is 'best' comes down to the exclusives and personally think Sony has that wrapped up. Helps that I have a decent PC so don't miss out on any xbox stuff anyway.

  • Sony announce their tiered PS+ (prices quoted are annual, there might be monthly sub options, I haven't looked)
PS Plus Essentials: £50 and is basically current plus (free games, monthly, online access, etc)

PS Plus Extra: £84, as above plus a downloadable catalogue of (approx) 400 PS4+PS5 game

PS Plus Premium: £100, as above plus PS3 library stream, PS1+2+PSP library, game trials

Rumours of Spiderman games, Death Stranding and Returnal being available on launch.

Nothing that will rival Game Pass, but a step in the right direction. Unlikely to have many new game launches on it.

  • game pass' killer app is day 1 AAA launches - not sure sony need to meet that offer though, given their exclusives are better than those on xbox

  • With all this Eldenring chat, I'm playing FONV.

    For the first time.

With all the DLCs and AllTheMods*

    * a lot of them just to get it working on 32:9

  • With all this Elden Ring chat, I decided to finally try out Dark Souls 3, which has been sitting unplayed in my Steam library for ages.

Turns out it's pretty good! I might even buy ER when I finish it.

  • Going away with my extended family for a week.
What’s the easiest/cheapest way to have 4 player gaming?
I’d been looking at n64 usb controllers as n64 emulation has always been so straightforward, but it actually ends up pretty expensive (£15 per controller and extra for n64 - usb converter, or you get dodgy n64 controllers with usb leads which are pretty useless if you buy cheap apparently).

Are there any decent plug in and play options? I vaguely remember seeing little retro things that come with lots of games on them that you just plug into the telly. Something like that would be ideal tbh.

  • Slay the Spire
    Free on PS+this month.
Good fun card building game. Rogue like levels so loads of replayability
Easy to pick up and easy to lose hours chasing the next build

  • my two youngest cousins (about 8 and 12yo) have finally managed to force the stars into alignment through sheer will to allow them to come visit our new place for the (not very well disguised) sole-purpose of playing my ps4 and high-end gaming pc on good friday.

I have spider-man and miles morales good to go on the ps4 but nothing in my steam library is really suitable for their age range as it's either too difficult, too complicated or age-inappropriate stuff.

anyone got suggestions for some decent games that will cost pennies on steam that I can plonk a couple of pre-teens in front of without spending 4 hours answering "what's the button for..." type questions?

  • Overcooked & Rocket League

(Not sure on actual prices, but the Overcooked games are very frequently on sale)

  • Sit them down with Elden Ring and shout GIT GUD at them if they ask for help/ complain/ cry.

  • they'd probably be annoyingly good at it. I struggled hard with Sekiro then Limmy was tracking how his kid was beating bosses in like 2 attempts.

  • Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes on the way. Will be Remedy themselves doing to work so should be a better job than the recent GTA ones but still feels a bit odd. Played through them both last year and while obviously feeling a bit dated (and stupidly difficult on occasion), really didn't find myself wanting a new shiny version.

  • Now we pray that the adapters arrive before Saturday.

Never played them so for me im quite looking forward to it.

  • WAVE RACE!!! Love that game

  • Never played them so for me im quite looking forward to it.

You can get them both on PC, and it looks like you can also play them on modern PS/XBox consoles too (it's listed as a "PS2 Classic" on the PS Store, not sure where you get it on a modern XBox).

Definitely recommend them, they're excellent and with some hilarious tongue-in-cheek noir genre moments

  • Ah, but now maybe best to wait until the remakes come out! lol

  • They do still hold up very well (though the first one has some super difficult bits that have you doing a bit of save scumming to get around them). I don't have the same level of apprehension that I did for the GTA Trilogy as it's actually Remedy themselves doing the remaster (and will use the same engine used for Control/Alan Wake, be interesting if it feels significantly different as a result), so the remakes should still be pretty decent.

And hopefully Rockstar won't pull their dodgy practice of pulling the original games off the digital shelves when the remakes come out.

  • I loved Max Payne 1 + 2, never actually played 3 though. I might give them a smash but I feel like even with a remaster the bullet time etc might feel a bit dated. Also that nightmare level where you walk on the line of blood that destroyed my young mind.
