  • Any recommendations for brake pads that don't turn leave rims, pads etc covered in a grey sludge in the rain? Have been using koolstop salmon on my shimano rims but they don't seem to perform as the reviews suggest.

  • No pads will stop grey sludge in wet weather, it's dirt/pad/rim detritus, but as amey says swissstop bxp (blue) are the best pads.

  • Another vote for Swissstop BXP. I take off the wheels to make sure there’s no chunks of anything embedded (you normally hear it before you go and look anyway) and give the pads a gentle scrape with a flat fine file when doing a half decent clean of the bike or after particularly mucky ride.
