I hired one for a day in Finland in winter. I had an absolute hoot and seriously thought about buying one when I got home. Then looked up the price of a set of tyres and quietly dropped the idea.

In the snow they are a seriously good time. Price and availability of replacement parts was one reason that I offloaded mine, although my experience with tires is that they lasted a very long time due to the low pressures and huge contact patch.

Funny timing. I watched a 'Fat Biking in Japan' thing last night where a Canadian dude was riding in Hokkaido I guess and made a little skate rink on a frozen lake. I still want a fatbike...
