Won't somebody think of the blue SID
-
• #24179
What does SID even mean?
I've just mounted a "blue SID" on a mate's bike. But it literally is just a REBA. -

genuine question, please explain fat bikes and why they died? I was too much of a roadie when they were in trend

Smallfurry built the best one ever and nobody could hope to match it, so basically that killed them off
They only exist in places where they're useful now, like Iditarod

I bought a Pugsley back in 2011(?) and aside from the giggle-inducing novelty of rolling over whatever I wanted, it was kinda fun. During that time I lived in a place that got enough snow for it to actually almost make sense. When there was no snow it made a passable MTB for the few times a year I could make it to the trails.
Eventually I sold it off as it was really never the right bike for my needs. For folks who live and ride on the beach, in the desert, or in very snowy climes with groomed cross country ski and snowmobile trails, they do make sense. For most folks it’s just the novelty of it.

I hired one for a day in Finland in winter. I had an absolute hoot and seriously thought about buying one when I got home. Then looked up the price of a set of tyres and quietly dropped the idea.
If it had rack mounts it would definitely be a thread fusion bike, created by AI. Wait. Also add the English Cycles logo on there.
