  • He's not doing anything special at all. Calls himself an engineer but I cant find him on the members list of any of the Institutions. Anyone can chat shit about other products in order to sell overpriced bottom brackets to mugs.

He made Michelle's life absolute hell and I haven't got the patience to be polite to his fans or apologists.

  • Absolutely this. The guy is a misogynistic menace and YouTube should remove him and his content.

  • They def changed factory sometime after the Palace 1 and that might have coincided with the disc brake frames/thru axles coming along? None of my welds look anything like those in the video

Re. cycling media mafia; even the reviews of the Palace 1 quoted frankly ridiculous frame weights, I even emailed Neil after he personally delivered mine in 2015 to say "how does a 56cm review frame weigh 1150g when my 52cm is 1390g?"

    He never replied

  • Cycling industry is cliquey as fuck, and they all piss in the same pot. Of course favours abound in the reviewing side of it all.

You only have to look at any social media postings of some event that's happened, and it's all the same faces and small brands getting in on the act.

Some of the people making a living from vlogging about cycling, who clearly don't actually know that much about cycling (or have no provenance in the sport)... it's remarkable.

In 2016 I contacted Pro-Lite about one of the models they had in their catalogue. They're a respected OEM constructor in Taiwan. Unfortunately they no longer stocked what I was after but they did get back to me with an offer - a decent price on a Bowman frameset from a batch that hadn't been paid for.

Well, if Bowman were having issues paying people way back then then it's hardly surprising the way things eventually turned out, nor that they may have ended up with a different and lesser constructor.

    IE Hambini

  • Agree. Although he's in a different segment of the Venn diagram. Definitely not in the clique!

  • were you born yesterday?

  • Ah thanks for the link... I was so naïve.

No. I know how it works, but I honestly think the cycling industry at the moment is a special case. There are a lot of folk making decent money from it who know little more (less) than people in here. And I think it's made easy for them because of how cliquey it all is.

  • if anyone thinks Hambini is "clever" for "exposing" the "ties" between cycling magazines and brands then naive doesent even begin to define it

in the bigger picture its a non consequential cottage industry, being a cunt is a universal choice

  • if anyone thinks Hambini is "clever" for "exposing" the "ties" between cycling magazines and brands

Yeh I didn't say that. I was just making another point.

For the record, Hambini's content is entirely questionable.

  • fair, there is no money to be made in cycling, whatever he is doing is just an excuse for him to be a toxic cunt, if not bikes he'd do something else with same MO

  • reading this now, mind is blown... logical incirments? ladders? halos? what?!

was everyone else aware of this? noones talking about it?!

  • Totally agree.

  • Do you still have your Palace 3 from a few pages back? Looked like a sweet bike.

I’ve just got back from riding the Flanders sportive on my Weald. Worked flawlessly, though I might now go and have a closer look at my head tube and welds!

  • No, it cracked in a race sadly. Luckily I got a warranty replacement before they went bust which I sold as boxed because I got a great deal on a 3T Strada. Shame, it was a nice bike!

  • Where did it crack, out of interest?

    And don't say "Hillingdon"! :-D

  • Lol, in some Nat B in Surrey.

Chainstay where the brace had been welded to a sharply crimped section of stay.

  • That does seem to be a common site of failure that’s been reported, both in the most recent frames and also the Palace R.

I’m not really too sure what to make of it. Undoubtedly the manufacturing is poor, but has someone also cut up something like a CAAD13 for comparison? Also there presumably is a significant amount of selection and reporting bias with regards to these cracked frames.

In any case, I’ll be keeping a close eye on my Weald, and if it cracks I’ll be getting on the waiting list for a Strael or Mason Definition.

  • From that link I'd say the Palace 1 forks are 1000% Pro lite Liguria Ponente forks painted up.

Might be a source for mech hangers and cable routing parts too

  • Recevied, thanks my man - appreciate it

  • Wow. Sale of Goods Act would've legit gone in the customer's favour. I'm not sure why but I'm shocked - perhaps I've been more naive than I thought about the cycling media scambles

  • Hi Guys,
I recently bought a Bowman Weald Frame from the Liquidators sale but it came without any of the through axels. Does anyone know the spec of the through axels used on the Bowman Weald? i.e. Thread length and thread pitch? or a through axel that would fit?
    Thanks
    John
