For who? ER5 is worse than the XJ??
-
• #20253
Have to say an ER5 would murder the XJ. Way more fun. I used to borrow a GPZ 500 and it was a great little bike. Especially for town and B roads.

Hmm not sure. Not the way mine was set up. It would hold its own against Bandit 6’s right up til the Bandits let out the extra power.
-
• #20255
Bindit 6 wasn't set up right then.
Just giving you the idea of a road bike that is fun, you can really enjoy all the power or potter and not lose your licence.
GPZ is a smaller parallel twin, not as liked as the gs500 or the CB5 so cheaper but still skinny tyred fun.

Thanks. I don’t want small like the ER5. If I did, I would have stuck with the XJ. What I want is gash-graphics 90’s sports bike 200kg max, 80-100hp. That seems to be all my wants in one package.

Are we talking clip ons?

ZZR600 does tick all your boxes.

Add some yellow or neon somewhere and I’d be weak at the knees.

1998 CBR600. 100 odd bhp. 180kg. Garish to the max. Race pedigree. Great handling.
I had one for the track a while and it was fucking fantastic.
You can get them in yellow and purple; and they’re under 2 grand

Seems bang-on. But I wonder if now I have the bird, it will be as easy for me to part with as I think…
The alternative is that I spend some a bag of chocolate coins on a spare fairing set and try look for something like this:

Have you looked at vinyl wrapping? They can do some pretty mad designs.
Probably on par with the cost of a new set of fairings.

Cheap chinese fairings? for the cost of a GPZ500 ;)

Always had a soft spot for old Motto Guzzis as there was a california parked on my walk to the bus stop as a kid.
After seeing this. I really want a Moto Guzzi 850 T3 Carabinieri with all the OG panniers and screen.
Ridiculous as I don't have a garage and don't ride the bike I've already got...but still...dreams. -
• #20265
Yeah that's lovely, regardless of if you'll actually ride it or not. Something about the picture above particularly, but feels very carabinieri spec in that colour.
-
• #20266
Funny as well how, just because it's Italian you think it's cool rather than cringy having a police bike.
-
• #20267
They do also give a bit more thought to style generally tho

This is my casual dream bike, spotted in Madrid a few years ago.
I'd probably rather the mk1 HRC 650, over this 750, but I didn't spot one of those.
edit: MK1 TransAlp in the background, saw loads of mk2 being used as police bikes when I was over there c.2017

For the record, I'd own an ex filth Vauxhall Omega, SD1 or Volvo 850 in a heartbeat but get your point :)

Seems a shame to replace already. It had at least a few more rides in it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

There was a time when every other bike in Paris seemed to be one of those. Lots of guys doing the Parisian chic thing of using them as scooters, wearing their Parisian chic street clothes. Biker chic in France makes the average British biker look a teeny bit neanderthal.
-
• #20273
That colour used to be reserved for carabinieri and ministerial cars

Anyone here ride a Tenere 700? Heavily thinking of PX the Tiger for one. Want a bit of dirt, but can't sacrifice the two up capability.

Brake Magazine’s Lel Pavey (son of Simon) highly rates them. He’s just started publishing a new series on dirt-specific upgrades.
Kwak er5?
