  • Argh no way, got stung!

  • Oh la la! Much prefer this to the Nautilus. Not that I'll ever try either of them on.

  • Would that make you feel less inclined to wear it due to its now becoming something that can be used as an investment?

No, I'm not intending on selling it so the equity/value thing is academic really.

I think that the matter of paying overs may be slightly more nuanced than "mug", is my point.

  • I’ll admit, I was mostly referring to OPs. As that’s the Rolex I actually want. I can understand paying over retail for. Sub up to a point, but paying over for an OP is a poor value proposition considering what else is out there.

  • I won't pay over retail on principle. Would really like an OP but I'm not paying a penny over RRP for it, just won't play that game. If that means I don't get to own one I'm not gonna cry about it.

  • What if they upped the retail to £8k - would it be a bad value watch? They are pretty good I think tbh...

  • Yes, IMO £8000 at retail would absolutely be too much for that watch and I really, really like OPs.

  • People will always just pay whatever based on their own perceived value. Sale discounts or over rrp factors less than you think. People set their own price limits on what they think is too much and that often isn't down to affordability. I know a guy that has spent nearly a million on watches but when he asked me to sort a bike out for him he said 2.5 k closer to 2 if i can and i had a client today that said she would really like a Brietling but they're really expensive yet she'd just come from viewing a house listed at 2.3 million so 1.8 million pound property may seem cheap to her but a 4k watch is really expensive? Others will happily pay way over what someone else perceives as expensive just because they really want it and i don't think that means they have more money than sense just different strokes for different folks.

  • In other news, this 305,000 EUR Cartier Masse Mystérieuse is absolutely insane.

I read this is as *In other news, MY 305,000 EUR Cartier Masse Mystérieuse is absolutely insane. *

  • I really want to like the new Tudor, the 4 digit Explorer 2 is one of my favourite watches. But something about it doesn’t quite work and I don’t know what. I wouldn’t mind the thickness probably.
Another guy picked one up and took this picture:

  • Couldn't get that insta link to work.

    Cartier's 22 line up here...

Have to say these glass mounted? 'magic' pivots don't really do anything for me.

  • The numbers on the bezel just look wrong. Too big, they seem to almost overhang the edges. Also too elongated and thin.

I don't like the lack of crown guard either. The face and hands I like though.
    (Imo etc etc)

  • Lol. Imagine.

  • I just think they look very cool. Not for me but pretty wild.

It’s a reel, so unless browsing on a phone I suspect it won’t work.

  • The date window and the lack of a crown guard kills it for me

  • Tudor are becoming steinhart with their latest releases and thats a shame..

  • My favourite Hoodwinkee comment on it was “They went full Steinhart. You never go full Steinhart”.

  • I think the hands are a bit too long and the taper on the GMT hand is 'meh'. Them just removing the metal surround to the marker makes it look odd when not viewed head on, think the marker style from the P01 would have worked better but then it's probably even closer in similarly to the Rolex.

  • Also, when you compare the two, the Rolex as a much stronger mix of white accents, thicker on the hands, printing and the date which creates nice contrast against the markers. Tudors just gone faux on everything and it's flat and gives less boost to the GMT hand.

  • yeah the Rolex is 10x better, still like the Tudor but it's not perfect

That Cartier is so cool to be able to see your sweaty arm through the dial 😍

  • Is interesting.

I agree with the crown guard comment.

However with the cyclops the Rolex looks congested imo. Also the chapter markers exacerbate this.

Not a fan of explorer 2 anyho.

  • So, basically we’re still waiting for a BB58 GMT.

  • I'm waiting for a new Tudor submariner (That looks just like the first ones)!

  • I've also just realised a bit like @regal font phobia that the Tudor hour hand proportions are different on the bb58 to the pelagos. The latter has a more chode stick. Not sure I can deal with this info.
