Before the race there were talks of how a multiple TdF winner is not the kind of rider who you’d expect to put a challenge in for Flanders.
During the race we accepted they could.
After the last 200m there’ll be talks of how a multiple TdF winner is not the kind of rider who you’d expect to put a challenge in for Flanders.
Excited to be watching that amazing final 30-odd km all over again in the women’s race, all up for grabs at the moment 👍

Never mind Pogz .... you'll just have to attack a bit earlier at Paris-Roubaix ... !

Did the climate justice protester pip Pog on the line?

Another great finish in the women's, great day of racing

Wouldn't have minded AvV winning but it must be a huge relief for Kopecky
-
• #38957
Well, he completely fucked the finish. That's a pretty good reason to be mad.

Could she ( Annamiek ) sat on Kopecky for the last few kilometres …
I think she knew what the outcome was going to be but should she have played it a bit better …. ?
I understand her move to Movistar was to try something new … and to give a bit back to bring on youngsters , but then she just drops them all and has no team mates when it comes to the crunch … ?
Happy for Kopecky though … Flanders in the national champs jersey … wow … -

Just finished watching the races. Women's first; good finish and it's good to see Kopecky getting the results she's capable of.
The mens... great finish. You just knew that MvdP has the power to get a sprint going from a low speed so was less worried about the arriving groups. Pog should have known better, or at least his DS's should have, he'd have come second at least if he'd launched a sprint.

Massive ride by Fred Wright today. Looks like he’s got a great classics engine.
I quite like having a two week gap before Roubaix. Hopefully a few riders will be back by then.

… chuffed for Fred - really impressed at what a rider he’s become - so natural …. sure he’s still getting taller ….
..and , looking forward to Horner’s take on Pogacar’s finish line antics -

Your race director uses your bike from the bus to the finish area for talks with the race jury. That is the rest of your season jinxed right?

This is as embarrassing as the Astana rap.

She did. They both sat on Chantal Van Den Broeck-Black for most of the last 10 kms though. Van Vleuten had minimal chances one she got away with the two SD Worx riders, as she was never going to drop Kopecky on the flat.

Impressive recovery from MvdP after being almost left for dead, he knew he had the legs again and played Pogacar impressively.
Not tasteful however from Pog, some PR to do before the tour if he wants The French to forgive him for remonstrating against Madouas -

The guy had just seen a podium place go, I think he’s allowed to be upset.

To paraphrase a tweet @leggy_blonde retweeted, Pogacar is the first rider ever to finish fourth in a two-up sprint.
-
• #38972
VDP needed 100 watts more to keep up with Pogacar on the Paterberg (649 over 1:10) compared to going up together with Asgreen last year (558 over 1:15). Wonder what next year will bring.

I quite like having a two week gap before Roubaix.
I was thinking the same. Allows my liver time to regenerate. They should keep it.
Remarkable sprint from a standstill against G2 coming up with momentum.
No sympathy for Pog. That was fair.
