Id be interested in the aeropress if you're done with it? Been wanting to try one

Hadn’t intended to sell it but you’re welcome to the borrow it if you can come collect it?

That's not bad at all! Probably takes about the same to grind 2 doses in my electric.
It's odd the routines we get used to. The Mrs can't be bothered to make espresso, so makes french press. I can't be bothered with taking the pot apart to wash it and clean the screen so make espresso.

My wife cba to do either so I have to make the coffee for both of us.

I don’t think I am fussy or annoying enough so considering moving to a more plant based diet. Will be looking to slip this into every conversation I have/post I make. What are the best milk alternatives for making latte/cortado type drinks - any particular brands to look out for. IIRC oatly is considered highly, any others?

Minor figures is my choice and choice of my local hipster coffee joint. Easy to order in bulk from tchibo if you get on with it.

Minor Figures is my go to - I’ve not really discerned much difference between the standard and barista versions.

Can anyone here speak to the difference between cone (v60) and flat bottom (kalita style) brewers?
Some people said you can get different flavours and textures. Some say only thing that really makes a difference is ratios. Anyone here want to add their 2p before I spend £40 on an Orea?

If anyone is going to the coffee festival today or tomorrow would they check out the Ikawa home roasting machine for me?
I was supposed to go tomorrow and look at it for my brother in law but I'm just been struck down by COVID so I can't go.

The kalita is a bit smaller, fine for ~250ml but if you want to brew more than that go for a v60. I find the kalita tends to suffer less from the fines collecting at the bottom and slowing the pour like can happen with the v60 sometimes, I guess the kalita is a bit more forgiving. I use both interchangeably. The kalita filters are slightly harder to come by and slightly more expensive

I've been ordering PureOaty (the brand Oatly tried and failed to sue in a bullshit suit) and it's good! Haven't bought any other oat milk for about a year. You have to buy it by the pack though.

I've also tried their almond and don't rate it as much - it's actually the best tasting almond milk I've had and is great for hot chocolate and smoothies, but it seems to split easily when used in coffee and tea. -

Doesn't the Ikawa only do very small batches? I always thought it was more of a test roaster than anything else.
Edit: Just checked the site there, they state a max of around 90g out. Mine maxes out around 220g out and wish I had've went for the model that was twice the size. The Ikawa does look nice to be fair, but only having enough for 5-6 espressos per roast or 3-4 filter brews per roast would start to get on my nerves pretty quick!
Mine is a Korean brand called Bocaboca, they do a 250g and 500g model. Kaldi also look like they have a pretty decent range.

My brother in law has a lot of disposable money. They just switched from moka pot to the big boy cash money Sage bean to cup espresso machine and he's basically gone off a cliff into spending money.
I think he literally just wants to try it and see how it goes for a few months and he likes the design/aesthetic of it.
I'll pass on your recommendation to him though

Probably the Ikawa suits better to be honest. It seems to be relatively self-contained and not very messy. But I'm willing to bet that it'll be a short lived fad. If he wants to offload it for 25% RRP after a few weeks give me a shout ;)
Mine is pretty good in terms of value for money, but you end up with some chaff over the worktop.
The Kaldi range are a bit more heavy duty but generally require a decent burner which might not fit with the rest of the kitchen aesthetic.
Not sure if they've got a place to buy green beans from, but I've found Redber to be pretty good in terms of value and selection.

‘ReRooted’ had a few of their drinks/milks delivered with our veg, household approval gained.

Yeah, I’ve been get stalling lately with the v60. So maybe worth a punt. I’ll put it on the ‘this might be a cool gift’ list but not a must buy. Cheers!

Cheers! Thanks for all the info/advice

Anything, I've had loads of stuff from them over the last few years and it's all been really good.

Nice one, just came here looking for a good coffee for v60's, gonna give it a go
I mean it literally takes 20 seconds. Granted, I only make coffee for myself. But still. It's no big deal.
