it should be bibbing because that would be ingrained from the alternate lyrics to We Three Kings hymn sung in school.
“One on a scooter bibbing his hooter “

Only learned to drive about three years ago. This chat has made me realise I don't think I've ever blown the horn on our car!

I think i'll disconnect the hooter / horn and try and chill out more.
My wife (who is a clinical psychologist) blames my irritation on my childhood - she has a point :) -

When did beeping become bibbing?

Car horns should be as loud inside as they are outside.
-
• #2257
Yes! This is so true!
-
• #2259
Honking, surely? For alliteration points if nothing else.
-
• #2260
Tooting surely.

Years ago people in the pub I frequented would have a toot of Bob Marley up their hooter

One bips ones horn. Or beeps, if you hold the button down for a longer period.
-
• #2263
I definitely toot

But only at the weekend.

My driving instructor covered none of this with me

What part of the country are you bippers from? I've never heard this term.
-
• #2267
Bipping is some kind of April fools inside joke right?
-

Get a bike, you old carwankers

Just off to the bathroom for some ‘me’ time.

Does it do ears too?
-
• #2272
It's beep. Honk is what clown cars do. Bip is nonsense. Toot is is for Noddy.
-
• #2273
I am sure it does, but I prefer to have me ears ‘flamed’.
-
• #2274
Bib and beep

My Dad (and fellow Leicestershire people) always said Pap/Papped the horn, just to throw that into the mix
It’s never been called bibbing in my neck of the woods. Honking, hooting, tooting and papping are all terms but not bibbing. Where’s that from?
