  • Not with the rear slicks, but otherwise 100% yes.

  • front wheel drive, you are fine.
    better for drifts, innit.

  • Saw this earlier in the week and thought it looked like it was off the set of Akira.

    Anyone know what it is?

  • Hahahahaha Keeway hahahahaha

    … it’s a Superlight 125 or a Cruiser 250 I guess

  • Was thinking that too.

  • Halfords are offering £10 off a minimum £20 spend when joining the halfords motoring club. Club is free to join.

  • I had a Halfords % off voucher from last month’s Shell rewards thing. Can try see if it’s still valid if anyone was buying from there in-store.

  • Swapped back to the XJ from the Blackbird. Gonna take a few rides to get back into riding a smaller capacity, but so far it feels like someone removed my testicles and one ankle.

I must use the other ankle to push the bike to go over 60.

  • So the moment I spend the money on the tax? Some people start messaging me to come and look at it. Bugger.

Well, at least I’ve just done the oil change and if the guy is serious I might even tighten the chain.

  • It's going to fly out of the door at the money you're asking. The weather is changing after all.

It's a great bike after all and people will take a chance for that sort of money.

  • Get the tax back when you register it to new person online

  • Well, ugly as it is, at £1200 for an XJ600N with fresh oil, valves and all the other stuff only a few thousand miles ago, and less than 19k on the clock, someone is saving a bundle.

Similar story if someone showed interest in the blackbird. It had a lot of work done before I bought it - so far all I’ve done is checked the bolts haven’t rattled loose.

But yes I’ll get most of the tax back, maybe lose a month of it if they are being proper tight.

  • You shifting both the XJ and BB?

Not gonna get far on the Trials bike, what is the ideal replacement for those 2?

  • XJ needs gone anyway. The BB I was popping first-gear wheelies over speed bumps earlier. I think I really should sell it.

But… I am learning to love it.

Ideally a smaller lighter sports 600 or 900. Something around 100-120 hp maximum. Basically what I was aiming for anyway. But now I know it for sure - I don’t need to be pushing 130mph and asking “hmm, what if I just…”

On my current trajectory by the end of summer I will be redlining the BB everywhere. I want to take that opportunity away from myself before it’s license in the bin.

  • Also don’t forget, I have the DR350… that bike will take me anywhere, so long as it’s below 70mph.

  • Haha - there's not an appreciable delta in speed between the Bird and a Blade / GSXR of the same era....The lighter bikes are definitely more fun though.

I highly support chopping and changing machine as often as possible! ;)

  • I found the RSV Mille a good compromise. The fairing had been properly wind tunnel developed - it even had 'eyebrows' to reduce turbulence or something. It also had a big tank and long range. I used it sur le Continong on a Park Lane BMW tour. It was very comfy, and in a completely different 'fun' league to all the BMs.

  • Well, ideally I want something that tops out around 140, maaaaaybe 150 with a fair wind. I don’t need confirmed 180mph.

Suppose what I’m saying is, I want the missile, not the rocket it was launched from.

  • Lighter bike for the win. Although as Jung has mentioned, no difference in speed.

Maybe sports tourer in the 800 range might do it. Or an 800 ducati ss like Jungs if you can find an affordable one.

  • I love the RSV mille - cracking motor. They're still FAF though!

Don't know that I could recommend a stock 900SS, they're a bit lardy and require fettling. I was lucky that mine had had the entire exotic parts catalogue lobbed at it by someone that knew what they were doing.

@chak has it right, tuned SV or something like that. Set the suspension up, fit some sticky tyres and spank it.

  • Fully faired? One of most amounts of fun I had was on Daytona 675. Light, nimble, reliable, and screams. Would have another in a heart beat.

  • Oh my yes. I would LOVE one. All silly prices here at the moment.

    Still borderline FAF too.... :)

  • Yeah, proper keen for another. 4g’s gets you a facelift one.
I’d have to get rid of the SV, but I don’t have the heart.

  • I'm the same, I like all the bikes I have at the moment. Can't seem to sell any of them. Doh.
