• anyone got any experience of getting learner driver insurance ? I'm looking to borrow my brother's car while he's away and looked at getting learner insurance from veygo, just wondered if there's anything to be mindful of ? I know I'd need to have L-plates, and be supervised by someone 21+ with a full driving licence which has been valid for 3 years.

  • Oddly it was cheaper for me to be the primary insured driver on our car despite having never passed. Apparently people who can't drive are more careful.

But yes, L plates on front and back and supervised and you can't go on motorways. Other than that it's terrifyingly easy

  • thanks - I've managed to source the L plates and yes quote is cheaper for me than it is for my partner, with 20+ years on her licence and no claims. odd. think we'll go for it - I'm about 25 hours into learning and feel fine cutting about. have been on fast roads with my instructor in his little kia so sure I'll be fine in my brother's GT TDI (!) scirocco.

I'm not so hot on maneuvers (bay parking or whatever) but I'll muddle through by not parking in any narrow spaces.
