I’ve been putting in 50 onions everything months in different beds and I’m concerned I’m going to have too many.

Just bought another 100 because they were so cheap. Couldn’t resist

Ah well, in that case dark and cool will stop them growing a bit but they should just sprout and be a bit further along when you plant them. You can leave them in the ground a decent while and they store great once you’ve dried them out.
