When I was learning to ride a motorbike, on a lesson I saw someone reversing off their drive, but had an obscured view (delivery van parked on street) so assumed they hadn't seen 3 dudes in high viz on motorbikes, so gave a little toot-toot to alert them to our presence.
The instructor positively wet himself with glee, and said if I was on my test "the examiner would have a hard-on" after a textbook use of the horn.
Alas I didn't get a chance on my test, but I was certainly looking for opportunities
I glare at people in cars who hoot a lot, the horn is to let people know you are there not to reprimand perceptions of shit driving. People on motorbikes should hoot more, no-one is looking so no-one can see you, in fact they should all be forced to ride Honda’s so they hit the horn every time they reach for the indicator to put it on or cancel it. When they get used to that they should switch away from a Honda so they hit the horn again all the time.
