Day one of Shanghai Puxi lockdown here. At 8am everyone in my building was rounded up and we lined up in groups of ten outside, before being allowed to walk to the testing site (around the corner). Quick swab and then walk back, then back inside. We'll do it again the day after tomorrow - not allowed out of the apartment until then.
The east side of the city was due to be released at 5am this morning but 23 out of 24 communities had "too many" (ie. not zero) cases so they're in a different kind of lockdown (ie. it's exactly the same but has a different name). Some people have already been in lockdown for 14 days and have run out of food so the government is delivering food parcels... so that's good I guess.
The west (best) side of the city is due to be released on tuesday but it's almost certainly not going to happen, and even if you are lucky enough to be allowed out, nothing will be open, no shops, nothing.
I might sign up to be a volunteer, just to get out of the house. Also I get a hazmat suit. And I might get first dibs on the food deliveries when we all run out here too.
