  • Dunno. Doesn't matter. It's a pilot's watch not a dive watch.

  • Can't believe we live in an age were Oyster Perpetuals are now priced at £35,000.

I mean, not sure if they're selling but they randomly discontinued the OP Tiffany 41 but not the other sizes?

  • People listing them on Reddit for $11,500 and up depending on dial variant and size. Absurd. Truly fucking mad. 36mm turquoise was listed for $27,500.

Someone rightly commented: I am just so torn between buying this one... or a Patek Calatrava 5196j AND a Lange & Sohne Langmatik with in house microrotor both in 18k gold for the same money...

Not sure they've done their maths quite right there but they're not far off.

  • It's why I really like my Steinhart... Its £500 (new, which I didn't),its based on the older but thinner rolex (timeless design), its got a decent depth rating, it's modern and won't be a fortune to service. My only issue is that it's such a close copy it doesn't have its own personality.

  • Not really that different in price to a Hulk.

There are enough people either for whom the price is irrelevant (they are extremely rich and just want the hot watch) or who believe it’s a good investment even at silly money, to drive the prices up.

I’m starting to notice a pattern with Rolex discontinuing in-demand models “early” though, they did it with the white dial OP39 as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if the lefty Kermit GMT is also short-lived and ends up being sought after just for its rarity / unusualness.

  • It's time for a good morning cup of coffee

    Hope everyone is doing well

This... I'm the same. They've found a way to print money. Who's to say they won't hold back a few pieces themselves for this very reason.

And grey Market (scalper) dealers who hold back all the stock, drip feeding it into the system keeping the "demand" high.

There must come a point when super rich, silly investors and scalpers hit a critical point.... Surely....

  • There definitely will be. But it won't be for a very long time.

There has been a huge transfer of wealth over the past 30yrs, the levels of which are really hard to grasp.

    There is no interest.

People need a home for the wealth and there is little value to making real investments anymore. You're better off accumulating assets.

Until that changes it won't change.

  • white dial OP39

This one in particular makes me sad as when they came out I was really hoping to buy one for a milestone.

    It's gone from sub £4.5k to almost £9k. Bit like a 1016.

  • Good morning.

  • The low end Yang to Tim's Yin

The other Seiko I got from Ejay, only 20mm lugs with a 22 strap squeezed in, got a replacement in the way.

  • That’s my point, 200m is overkill and contribute to the case thickness.

  • On theme

  • I forget I want a solar tuna until someone posts a pic, and then I get searching again.

That is a beaut, I like the textured look of the dial

  • Warm sweater day today

  • Yeah watches are just another asset class. Just track anything with a level of scarcity. More millionaires than ever, younger and happening faster. They have to buy something.

  • The Sinn in coloured dial is out of stock already...

Wonder if we missed a trick here... @JB well done on grabbing one - which on did you get?

  • love this sinn - tempted to pick one up myself

  • What model is that GS?

I keep finding myself looking at their base level quartz prices.

  • Donegal GAA top day today.
