There are enough people either for whom the price is irrelevant (they are extremely rich and just want the hot watch) or who believe it’s a good investment even at silly money, to drive the prices up.
And grey Market (scalper) dealers who hold back all the stock, drip feeding it into the system keeping the "demand" high.
There must come a point when super rich, silly investors and scalpers hit a critical point.... Surely....

There definitely will be. But it won't be for a very long time.
There has been a huge transfer of wealth over the past 30yrs, the levels of which are really hard to grasp.
There is no interest.
People need a home for the wealth and there is little value to making real investments anymore. You're better off accumulating assets.
Until that changes it won't change.

I’m starting to notice a pattern with Rolex discontinuing in-demand models “early” though, they did it with the white dial OP39 as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if the lefty Kermit GMT is also short-lived and ends up being sought after just for its rarity / unusualness.
