Just this! I finished reading Eating Animals last week and similarly the descriptions of the slaughter methods in it makes the stomach churn.
Blows the mind people read that and still keep supporting the factory farming industry. -

Thanks for posting this. Very hard to read it, but a good reminder for why we persevere.

Just tried these for the first time. Taste exactly how I remember peanut m&ms tasting! Got them from Holland and Barrett, would recommend.

My expectations of the vegan tuna mayo sandwich from Starbucks were very pleasantly exceeded, would recommend.

listening to R4 earlier and caught this episode of the Food Show all about molecular identical cheese, a company thinks it has found a way to make dairy from precision fermented yeast

Made the banana chutney. Its great ain't it. Would go a bit hotter next time. But it's a simple and great Recipie to use up banana peels.

Where's the best falafel in London? Same goes for pizza and ethiopian food. Got a bit of a weird, last-minute trip coming up and need to find a few places to eat.

Loads of good falafel. There was a falafel ride a few years ago that took in some of the best spots.

+1 zeret
Asked the same about falafel on another thread, Syrian kitchen was mentioned although I've never been. Balady is my favourite. Was talking with a friend today about Mr falafel and we agreed that standards have slipped. -

Where can I buy a nice vegan cake in or around SE5 to take to a party?

Blackbird Bakery in Herne Hill does a nice lemon drizzle.

Received their 'Cake - set' for my birthday. It's all raw cheese cake type thing. Was very tasty and looked amazing.
Vegans would love it -generally more open to new textures and flavours, though non vegans can be more 'picky' ('but it doesn't have cheese in it, it tastes funny, why raw' - at least from experience)

Purezza (mini chain) is good for vegan pizza, IMO. Queen of Sheba (in Kentish Town) is also a good Ethiopian option.
Depends where you’re staying.
Sorry - no Catford recommendations!

There's also Lalibela in Tufnell Park which has a nice upstairs. Queen of Sheba didn't have teff injera the last time we went. Partner mentioned a good one in Kings Cross but I cannot remember the name.
Anyone been past Fortress Road and seen if Engocha is open again, I thought it had closed down but that could have been lockdown related. They had plates there for about 5 pounds. Before it was a restaurant they sold injera to take home nowadays I go to Messob Werk in Willesden, good if you want to cook yourself. The teff injera goes off quite quick from there but you can freeze it.
For the westies have a look Delina in Shepherds Bush market I liked the mango, avacado and lime smoothie from there. Nice place to chill also.

As of this week the aim in our household is to only have plant based food during the week. Having watched a few documentaries and it’s the health benefits I am mainly seeking and to reduce our environmental impact. We have been mainly vegetarian for about 4 years now (meat once a week) and generally 3 of our main meals each week have been plant based.
The biggest changes will be finding
a milk alternative for tea and coffee
Something instead of bread and cheese for lunch - only so many hummus or avocado lunches I can do
Our two default urgent cupboard meals are pasta with tuna, sweetcorn mayo or pasta with frozen fresh pesto. It’s just a matter of finding quick substitutions for those convenience meals.
Will try to make a red pesto with nuts, sunblush tomatoes, olive oil and nutritional yeast (all store cupboard items)
Will make hummus type things with a variety of different pulses/spices
Also aiming to make more pickles and fermented foods this year. First up will be wild garlic
So now the search is on for quick tasty (15-20 minute) easy tasty plant based meals

I've become a bit addicted to doenjang, it's like the funky lovechild of miso and Marmite, it's nice how it's meant to be used but it's also great just used to umami stuff up or even with a small amount spread on toast or a bigger amount spread on toast under hummus, has that aged cheese kinda thing going on.

Added to next food delivery order.
That's a horrible read.
