For posterity:
Confirm your attendance for the return of the Cobblemonster on Sunday 10 April!
Sunday 10 April is fast approaching and we need you to please confirm your attendance. Some keen-eyed subscribers from previous editions of Cobblemonster noticed that they couldn't get a confirmation of their attendance for this year's resumption event... The gremlins will be tamed in 2023!
For now, please can all riders who plan to attend complete this short google form, so that we know how many of you to expect on the day.
Participants will meet on Sunday 10 April at Brixton Cycles. After you've ridden the bone-shaking cobbles, lung-bursting hills, and taken a lap at Herne Hill Velodrome* you can watch the Amstel Gold Race on the big screen at HHV and enjoy some refreshments courtesy of Jan's Cafe and Captain Cliff's famous jerk.
And, of course, Cobblemonster wouldn't be complete without our famous raffle with amazing star prizes; full details to come next week with all the information you will need before the big day.
We salute you!
Het Cobblemonster

We will also have gift aid forms available there for those who forget.Evelina London Children's Hospital continues as our chosen charity and we aim to raise as much money as we can to support their amazing work.
Route
Our intrepid organising team have checked the route and will let you know the final parcours next week as part of our final checklist email, including all the bone-shaking cobbled sections and lung-bursting hills. We'll also give you a cue-sheet, just in case.

Is this the sort of event where doing it on an inappropriate bike is encouraged, or is that not the vibe?
-
• #33
Any and all bikes!
Pretty sure people have done it on tandems, fixed, trikes, pub bikes, beaters, etc for years. I know one of the BCC lot did it with a massive speaker on the front once.

• #34
Absolutely. Go for it.

Definitely. There's no mass start or attempt to keep everyone together. So all bikes very welcome

i am gutted not to be at cobblemonster this year, as I have promised GF's son a trip to Diggerland in Rochester next weekend and wont be back in time.
So good that this has returned well done to the organisers for making this happen, so many great memories. I was thinking about Fox Hill the other day, that final climb to avoid most of Anerley Hill to bring us back to the Gypsy Hill Tavern. I think it only appeared once, twas a pleasant surprise with local knowledge.
Wishing everyone a safe and event filled day, please add tons of photos and stories here too.

You and me both!

so what time are people thinking of setting off. Would be nice to meet some old faces during the ride rather than at the end. Also, anyone planning on a lunch visit to the Dog & Bell in Deptford? - one of the highlights for me

I'm starting early because riding with friends who need to finish early. But I might take some cafe/pub breaks to drop back through the field and see more people on the way.

Hmm, was aiming for 9am start but it's best part of hour & a half so...
Seems to be an issue (or is it me?) with the online donations page. Jumps to Virgin Money page explaining how they gave up on the charity bit in November ;-(
