My GP5000 TL went on fine with my new LB rims. They're not new tyres though, I've got 2000-3000km on them so maybe they've stretched a little

Is the tyre the clincher or tubeless version?

I have trouble even with the clincher version (25mm) on my lb rims but I imagine the tubeless version is very tricky to get installed.

Something that helped me was swapping out fabric rim tape for tesa tape and making sure I was using the skinniest inner tube I could find (19-23mm latex).

Even then I think I had to resort to the 'tyre mate' to get it on the first time.

Appreciate all the responses, to clarify I am using the clincher version currently. If I make the switch to tubeless when these die, perhaps I'll consider a different TL tyre in light of comments here.

I am now quite frightened of the next time I get a puncture on the road, but will definitely keep the feedback people have given here in mind. If anything it will help when my thumbs start bleeding and hands start cramping incontrollably. 'You are not alone'

They do loosen up over time to be fair, and the new S TR version is considerably easier to get on.

Before I list them on the classifieds, anyone after a pair (or two) of the ChinEEse cane creek brakes? I bought them, waited a month for them to arrive and then decided I prefer to keep my SR calipers to match the rest of my groupsets. £118 is what I paid for each pair so ideally I’d get that back, they’ve not been mounted and come with boxes and all other bits and pieces.

Have you used the S TR version? Which tyre/rim width? Cheers.

A friend of mine has lent me this Trifox. It rides alright for what seems to be a tarmac sl6 copy. Obviously the fit is odd, 145mm stem is quite ridiculous. It's a 56cm and i definitely would be more suited to the 58cm. For road racing it should be useful

FWIW, I had no problems fitting new 25c and 25c gp5000s to the R (18mm internal) hooked rims.

My approach is not to try and use my thumbs to push the tyre bead over the rim but to sort of roll it on. Also after reading these horror stories tried getting them off and after releasing the bead from the rim on both sides (this was the hardest part) only needed one lever

Yep, I’ve tried 28mm ones on 19mm internal alloy rims. Still took a little work to get on but was considerably better, just normal tight ish tyre. Blew up to bang on 28mm in size.

Conti suggest that 28c to 32c will be fine upto a 25mm internal width rim and its fairly unusual for the manufacturer to say that in my experience but does mean I will probably try 30c on my LB WR45's at some point for better rolling.

I am waiting for 30c Corsa controls to come back into stock for exactly this.

how does the frame ride?

Good actually, the seatpost was slipping a lot to start with but a shim and carbon paste has fixed that. I like the geometry and it's responsive when I put more watts down. In terms of a race frame, I would recommend as it's replaceable.. The build above is 7.4kg too which could be improved on. I've had a few issues with disc brakes recently so it's a nice change

Could someone please help me with choosing the best LB wheelset for a Fairlight Strael v3. I'll be riding 85% road with some cheeky off road detours thrown in. I'll probably be using 32mm tyres although I haven't looked into what ones yet.

Also I don't really like the look of deep section rims so maybe 46mm deep? Honestly I have no idea what I'm doing with these new fangled rim dimensions.

WR 38 is your ticket.

Great all round rim and perfect for road tyres 28mm+ up to fat gravel ones. I have 32mm tyres on mine (Michelin Power Tubeless) and they size up to a lovely 35mm.

All Road and Wide Road and I'll second the vote for the WR 38.
The AR46 are great on my racer with 28c tyres but would go WR for 32c+

Definitely WR rims then. I use ARs with 25mm tyres. For 28mm+ go WR.

Just to add to the chorus, WR rims are the way to go. I recently got a set with 46mm on the front and 55mm at the back for the aero gainz and inspired by the Enve all road wheelset. 30mm Schwalbe One size up at 33mm on them. Lovely wheels!

Btw I'd recommend the satin finish - nice halfway house between matt and gloss
