Eddy Merckx and Greg Lemond both came back from potentially life changing injuries at older ages. Egan's physiology will still be broadly the same as it was.

Yeah, but his spine might not be. All the CV in the world is no good if you can't pedal properly.

I really hope he comes back strong but he broke, what, 20 bones?

Feel like it is notable that all the footage and pics of his return - his hands are on the tops, never on the hoods or drops. Not a good sign for his back.
