Front rack for Pompino?

Posted on
  • Am looking for a small front rack to use on my Pompino, standard forks with the canti mounts but undrilled fork. I’d be interested to see what others have used, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of options out there.

  • Does your fork have eyelets around the dropout?

As you said, not having a drilled fork severely limits your choices. Are you open to drilling it yourself? It's pretty easy.

I use a Velo Orange Campeur front rack, which attaches to canti bosses and dropout eyelets. Spendy, and you might not need it for the pannier capabilities. Nice bit of kit though.

  • Yes to eyelets. Ideally I’d prefer not to drill myself for fear of cocking it up. I’ll take a look at the Velo Orange, thanks.

  • Not for me Jeff. I think I may be looking at a Wald basket in hindsight.

  • Whatever you choose, skip this Sunlite POS

Canti-post tabs were alloy, and failure was quite rapid. tbh the rack itself was flimsy too.
Wald basket is the most popular move for undrilled forks unless you're going full Cetma messlife

  • Excellent work, even brought it in nice and close to the HT (unlike most five-panel fixie fuccpersons).

  • Cheers. Handles like a barge but super convenient and no more sweaty bags. Going to lace an old inner tube into the bottom of it to stop my lock rattling around.
