• To be fair I thought it was a very small bottle for the money spent but it seems like I can coat two bikes with it. So the MTB is next.

  • Yeah the IGL is even less and still have a lot left, in relative terms.

I have coated the forks, wheels and crank arms with it!

  • It is done!
    I mean almost.
    For now...

After figuring out the BB spacer situation and just going for some bar tape to finish it I put the Fairlight together.

I took it for a proper shakedown overnighter on the weekend.
We started in Kingston and headed to Guildford via Esher and then continued on the Downslink until it crosses the South Downs Way. We camped out at the YHA Truleigh Hill and then did a decent bit of the SDW towards Eastbourne followed by a road loop back to Lewes due to cancelled trains.
What can I say... This bike is effing amazing. It's fast, comfortable, stable and looks sick. The tyres are great on and off-road. The only thing I am going to change is the placeholder brakes.

    Here have some pictures.

  • I like that, a lot. Almost makes me contemplate getting a disc brake bike, almost, but not quite.

  • Yeeee nice.
Borrowed one of the mk1s from Fairlight a while back, was a very good bicycle indeed

  • So good! Plus I actually think that bar tape looks great!

  • Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong this is definitely one of the bar tapes I heavily considered. It’s Newbaums cushioned cotton tape 👌

  • very tasteful looking faran. What cranks are you running there?

  • Looks wicked

  • look like ea90s with a superstar ring to me

  • Cheers everyone!

    @Belagerent yes, what @lt says:

    Some more pictures just because.

  • By the way:

Contemplating what project to do next...

Actually, the roadmap here is clear.
Decals and paint job for the Raleigh.
Plus there is a whole other bike I didn't show you guys yet ;)

  • just because

    Yes good!

Bike looks great. How do you find the newbaums tape, is it comfy?

  • It is definitely comfy. It is basically your standard thick cork/foam tape with a thin layer of woven fabric on top. I would say it's even thicker than most tapes I've used. I can't commend on the long-term sensation yet. It will definitely get dirty adventure marks and I am unsure how it will feel like after some long sweaty rides.

  • Really lovely bikes and pictures as always,

  • After seeing the bike, was it you I saw on the downs link on Saturday? You passed us once earlier in the day when we were fixing a puncture and then we passed you again much later on the downs link. We were belting it by that time to try and get to Brighton for sunset.

Very nice bike by the way, was admiring as I passed.

  • Yeah, I think so!
I didn't realise you were fixing a flat or I would have offered help. I thought you were taking a break. I brought a new pump I didn't try yet.
We didn't make it until sunset because we stopped for dinner. Had a few km left to get to the campsite. Luckily my new light turned out so stupidly bright that riding the quite easy Downslink wasn't a problem at all.

  • Thank you @Maj.
I looked at some dogs for you.

    W H A T ?

  • Very nice fairlight btw xoxo

  • Noice!!

Is the Bagman thingy stiff enough with that kind of load? I've added the struts with mine because I always end up carrying stupid heavy stuff, but it's not the most visually pleasing thing...

  • i LOVE them!
