Yeah. I had an ex who's dad bought a place in primrose Hill outright in the early 80s for "only" whatever it was (I think £100k, but don't hold me to that).
Totally oblivious to how much he must have been making to have that sort of cash back then as the sole income earner.
Admittedly he did also luck out on it becoming fashionable and the resulting uplift.

How much was it valued at 2 years ago? If that is too much of a personal question, please ignore.

Particularly when you could only borrow 2.5-3x a sole salary!

No mortgage.

Is there a forum-approved mortgage adviser? My partner and I both have less conventional than "normal" incomes/work/jobs i.e. self-employed, part-employed, freelance hybrid type shenanigans and want to speak to someone to figure out our options. Fuck it's a minefield

If we were to pay that much more alternatives open up
update: Turns out there's no good alternatives in our mental price range.
Now looking at huge houses (high 400/low 500 range) in small new developments in Nunney and Langport. Both equal distance (sub-30 minutes) to Glastonbury where "the school" is situated. I wish there was better options near Wells or Street, but there aren't any. Going down (erm, left?) during the week to take a look.
Persimmon's 400k/4br/3story house being in the middle of multiple affordable housings (not S/O, I asked) on both sides of the street and also down a drain hole made us give up on them for now. Most houses we find way too small (coming from a 2BR setup and WFH right now I'm hungry for some space) anyway. Or we have the biggest sofas, I don't know.

I like Nunney. The new builds are quite a walk up the hill from what little is in the village though.

Moving day. Anyone want to start a sweepstake on what is going to go wrong ?
-
• #52396
List time;
- Everything
- Stuff you didn't even think about
- Things that went wrong, got sorted out, then went wrong again
Seriously though, good luck, I hate moving day but it will soon be in the past!
- Everything

Cat immediately shits / urinates on your nicely integrated door mat

Me and the cat are going on yet another road trip to pick up the keys. Seems a bit mean the estate agent doesn't drop them off
-
• #52399
Probably their petty revenge for you trimming their fees. Let the cat loose on them.

I must be soft as I've never managed to get one to deliver
Yeh £60k was a hell of a price for a house, back in 1978!
