That started happening to my 850 - getting the wheels refurbished (which re-sealed them, effectively) solved the problem.

On the basis this is supposed to be a cycling forum, what about a track pump? They do work.
-
• #70529
My track pump doesn't even do bike tyres properly. Also, still missing the point that 3 of the 4 tyres hold air properly.

Yeah, this was supposed to have been done by the other half 3 years ago. Did it happen? Did it fuck.

Leaky valve? I’ve had that with car tyres before. £10 fix at tyre shop.
-
• #70532
Didn't consider that. Mainly because the previous owner suggested the wheel cleanup first. I could just pull any schrader valve out, no? Or are car tyres different?
-
• #70533
I’d get the tyre shop to sort it. If the leak is in the rubber around the valve (where it seats into the rim) you could be in difs.

Ok, cheers. Will try and find a local tyre shop to have a look.

Best case scenario is the prob is the valve. Fingers crossed 🤞

Yes, slime.
This stuff. https://slime.com/
Once inflated you need to take the car for a drive for a few miles to set the stuff. Slime washes out so no issues when changing tyres.

What are Hankook tyres like? Looking at getting some new front tyres for my Yaris. A few big name brands I recognise but lots I don't: Avon, Hankook, Kuhmo, etc.
-

I picked up some Hankook ventus prime 3 recently after doing some searching for decent mid-range options, seemed to come out highly rated in wet conditions in a couple of group tests I found online - asda tyres had them pretty cheap with next day fitting, so far so good.
Also looked at Avon, Kumho etc. but found the Hankooks seemed to have the best scores on wet stopping distances from the mid range brands

I've not been paying attention, are we talking Volvo wheels? I had a 760 estate that would always let me down. My BIL runs a family tyre business and said Volvo alloys corode inside the tyre allowing leaks. He removed two troublesome tyres and brushed what looked like bitumin on the wheel surface. The tyres never troubled me again. He said it happened a lot but the fix didn't always work. I don't suppose it's an expensive remedy and I assume all tyre shops do it.

It's not a Volvo, no. I think rims have paint that flakes off and causes air gaps or corrodes a bit or they take hits on potholes and deform slightly so the seal isn't great. I might try and take it to a wheel shop, but I just don't drive that often. I have a day off tomorrow so will see if I can drop it afterwards.

Cheers. Think I'll pick up some of them.

It was a simple puncture. A small nail deep in one of the grooves.
-
• #70543
Well, at least you know. Hope it wasn’t to expensive to repair.

What's the maximum amount of cars you can have on a multi-car policy?
-
• #70545
£15 and some fuel.
I did think about setting the car on fire at the garage and just claiming insurance but then I'd have to walk home.
-
• #70546
If it’s anything like mine, the petrol is worth more than the car!

What's the maximum amount of cars you can have on a multi-car policy?
My insurer (Lockton) has a minimum, which I've not got enough vehicles for.

I haven't bought fuel for I dunno, maybe 6 months. Am I going to get a shock when I fill up?
-

Best you bring a chair to sit down!

I might just take the stuff out of it and leave the car at the pumps with a "Please take me" sign on it.
The pump is ciggie lighter type and battery is normally disconnected because if it's left that long it goes flat. I don't have a foot pump. I want the air I add to stay in the tyres. If the other ones stay up why can't this one?
