I'd say challenge rather than affront.
Its an interesting PoV and one that I think I agree with. Omega might have played a blinder here.

Although I'm sure plenty of Rolex fans are affronted by the idea of people being able to buy the watches they want to buy :D

To be fair, maybe there’s some fighting going on to collect the entire ‘set’ - which is impossible to do through retail right now and with no guarantee that it will be possible later on.
You could see a situation in the future where a new in box set of these could be worth a fair amount. Total gamble though.

It's the same reaction when a competitor released a much lower priced version in to any market. People always seem to think it signals the doom of the industry, now consumers won't want to deal with waiting lists and the high price of luxury watches, instead they'll just buy cheap semi-luxury. They're wrong, no one is going to put off buying a Submariner or Seamaster because they can get a Swatch version for 30 times less.

I think that many on here were not around when Swatch first burst onto the market in the early 80s. Watches used to be either cheap digital watches, quartz watches of incredible blandness, or luxury watches. Swatch disrupted everything. I was 13/14 when they exploded in the US market. Suddenly everyone in my peer groups, and people who never ever wore watches, all started wearing watches. Every. Single. One. People bought 2 or 3. Wore them in rotation, or all at the same time (*sigh, Jr high crush did that). The shift was pretty profound.
I am not be a huge fan of the Omega collab, but this is exactly how Swatch started. Fucking things up. Well played Swatch.

It’s practically all we have been talking about since it leaked/was announced.

Well no one can buy a Rolex and we've flogged that horse to death, so what else are we going to talk about?

Checking StockX for the resale value of the Swomega is no different from checking C24 for a Sub

My first ever watch at the age of 5 or 6 was one of the original 1983 Swatch line I think. Black case, white dial with black hands and arabic numerals. This one I think. Formative!

Would rock.

• #62714
Yeah I would totally wear it now. Though maybe not the 34mm version, if that's what size it was.
Dial reminds me a bit of the Ochs & Junior Settimana with arabic numerals.

There's the Paulin Neo, the yellow dyed aluminium dial version is quite gold… The owner of Paulin is married to Lewis from Anordain, they use the same graphic designer and I think Anordain did the case design and assembly for the Neo. Seiko automatic movement in these.
