  • but pretending that everyone is making a choice between artificial grass and a bee-friendly flower meadow is pretty unrealistic.

    Centrist dad's can >>>>>>

It's 2022. There are only binary options on the Internet.

  • Iā€™m with @greentricky, plastic lawns are a fucking abomination and anyone who has one should be shot.

  • In fact I'd go so far as to say I hate people expressing extreme views on fake grass.

Even more so if they've made the egotistical choice to produce their own children, and then still have the balls to crack on full force with their environmental virtue signalling.

  • .

  • And on a less politically charged note, and what I actually came to Monday-moan about...

I hate unblocking the outside drain. Partly because it's a shit job, but more so that it takes forever to get the free time X motivation to do it, and that I'm pretty sure the resulting overflow of waste water into the adjacent flower bed is 2hat has killed one daphne and is killing the second.

  • I hate unblocking the outside drain.

Why are you having to do this frequently enough so as to have to complain about it?

  • It's where he buries his head about ecological collapse and climate emergency

  • Ha!

  • Idk.

Firstly, this is only the third time. So maybe I'm making a big deal of of it. I'm also combining the bit that our bathroom water comes out of, which is 99% my partner's hair.

As to the actual reason. Idk. Last time it was a build up of coffee grouts and fat. Using an AeroPress made me better at putting the grouts in the food waste, but I got lazy and started using a cafetiere more because our youngest has got to the cupboard emptying stage so our coffee and mug cupboard is back to housing all the things, so getting to the AeroPress is like playing jenga.

It could also be the difference of having so many people in the house so much of the time over the last 2yrs. Previously it'd be two people eating dinner 4 to 5 days p/w and maybe a lunch or two.

I'll update you on the contents later.

  • I'll update you on the contents later.

    Current projects >>>>>>>>

  • TBH I didn't think it was interesting enough for it's own thread, but as you seem to be pretty into it I'll make one.

  • In this case the bit of lawn is pretty healthy & sunny.

But kids gonna kids and find the muddy part I guess

  • I've a kid, guilty as charged I guess :)

Or should I not get a heat pump, not plant trees, not ditch the car, keep garden wild, add hedges, not reduce animal foods cos it's all lost anyway? šŸ¤·

As for drains, if you have a pressure washer there's a ball attachment hose. Not cheap but we borrowed one and it cleared it pretty fast.

Another thing I won't use normally cos they use a ridiculous amount of water use but hey virtue signalling šŸ˜

  • Or should I not

If course not. Anything you can do to reduce your impact and improve the environment is good.

But equally when you live in the developed world and choose to add a person, you've got to excersise a bit of humility and awareness.

FYI blockage is now gone. Luckily it was just hair and fat blocking the grill.

  • Yummy a hairy fatball!

I guess it just annoys me so much green space is ripped out. Car parking, paving...it's a small thing to help local critters to keep green spaces.

Nobody seems to add trees / green around here, it's all ripped out unless it's a dedicated wildlife area/project.

But yeah lots of work to do ourselves to cut footprint and fake lawns are probably not the big issue.

  • I'm also combining the bit that our bathroom water comes out of, which is 99% my partner's hair.

Had to do the bathroom sink and it was my missus hair that was clogging it up. Told her next time she can unblock it.

  • Hopefully i'll meet my deserved grisly end in the garden as my fake lawn is very easy to clean.

  • Before i go i'll add the orient express thread and people asking where to buy fake furniture from China to the list

  • You know what, how about we ban cats?

    Hell no.

  • The feeling of really not wanting to go to work. I mean I know we all have the urgh work feeling but today I really need to find a new job. Uuuurgh work.

  • They're super easy to clean with a leaf blower though.

  • These are actually excellent I have one and a partner with long hair. It really helped catch it all.
