I think that many on here were not around when Swatch first burst onto the market in the early 80s. Watches used to be either cheap digital watches, quartz watches of incredible blandness, or luxury watches. Swatch disrupted everything. I was 13/14 when they exploded in the US market. Suddenly everyone in my peer groups, and people who never ever wore watches, all started wearing watches. Every. Single. One. People bought 2 or 3. Wore them in rotation, or all at the same time (*sigh, Jr high crush did that). The shift was pretty profound.
I am not be a huge fan of the Omega collab, but this is exactly how Swatch started. Fucking things up. Well played Swatch.

My first ever watch at the age of 5 or 6 was one of the original 1983 Swatch line I think. Black case, white dial with black hands and arabic numerals. This one I think. Formative!
