  • Had a quick look in the search but couldn't find much.

We bought a Kitchenaid Artisan just after Christmas, managed to use it three times before it packed up.

It's currently back with them, who are out of stock of the required parts - so I'm hoping for an exchange/refund.

Is kitchenaid the go to? partner choose it, partially due to how it looks.

  • I had three kitchenaid heavy duty mixers shred the worm gear on me. Each time I asked if I could upgrade to a professional. Twice they fixed it but third time they offered a direct replacement didn’t have my mixer in stock so gave me a credit note and I then got the professional with the ludicrous safety cage. It’s a beast but is quieter and way more powerful which is useful for when running attachments like the sausage maker, pasta roller and ice cream bowl.

The normal consumer units have a plastic safety worm gear that self destructs if the machine is jammed. Annoyingly mine shredded itself when milling flour, making sausages and pasta. The professional ones don’t have the safety plastic gear but instead are way more powerful with a direct drive motor. Most people shred the worm gear when trying to knead too much dough etc. However sometimes there is an internal alignment issue which causes unexpected failure which I think is what led to mine repeatedly failing. However their customer service was great, courier collected broken ones all under warranty.
