  • Had ten minutes today during nap so quickly finished pedals and mounted cranks and chain.
    We had a couple of rides around the block with me supporting her. Not a massive success so I'll remove the cranks again. I was just tempted to see if she would just ride off but there is too much going on still and she can't focus on keeping her balance and pedalling at the same time. I'll try again in a week or two.

  • I think I might have mentioned it before, but when we transitioned our kids to pedal bikes, I just carried a pedal spanner and whipped the pedals on/off as they were getting used to pedalling.
    it was easier than taking the cranks out and the cranks provided them with somewhere to rest their feet when they were getting more confident at 'gliding'

  • Fair enough. I'll try that, but these cranks take less time to take off than the pedals and no seat stays mean the chain is pretty easy to take off as well although it requires wheel removal
