  • Anyone got a set of Bullitt 135mm dropouts for external gears going spare? Could trade for my hub gear dropouts, even, plus I'll be getting rid of an Alfine 8 wheel and shifter if anyone wants.

  • @stevo_com forgot to say if you do get Tern get the hamax caress seat with rack mount platform, its the best.

  • I don't know if anyone else is using belt drive on their cargo, but I have to say, even after over a decade of using Gates belt drives, this is a new one on me! 🤯

  • Unfortunately it resulted in me having to push my loaded Omnom for three and a half hours. 😭

  • Ouch!
    I've never seen that before

  • Noted, looks great and addresses my worry of her being rattled around or falling asleep at an odd angle. Only slightly concerned that it grips the top of the rack instead of being bolted on. Is that something to be worried about?

  • Price of the Tern + accessories I want is £5,995. The UA was going to be £5,267 (going like for like with motor spec, as much cargo capacity for the Tern to make up for losing the big box of the UA, so not taking the piss).

    Tern GSD S10 LX Gen 2 - £5,225
    Cargo Lid Lock - £25
    Clubhouse+ - £240
    Sidekick Wide Deck - £150
    Stormbox - £225
    Transporter Rack Front - £155
    £5,995

Would it be a dick move to ask if they would match the price of the UA seeing as the change of plan is down to the delay of the UA (ordered in early October)? Would make the finance hopefully a bit easier as that was set up for the £5,267.

  • Just ask, they can decide if their margin will take it. I doubt they will be offended.

  • Customer of ours is potentially looking to sell their black 2018 eBullitt with Nexus 5 the steps battery needs replacing (about £450 I think) pretty sure she will be looking for about £2.5k, it hasn’t got very high mileage, just thought I’d post on here to gauge interest

  • I may be in for this. How would the sale happen?

  • I can find out some more details for you, only catch is it’s currently in Bournemouth, comes with a ply box on the front

  • 100% ask for matching

  • Only slightly concerned that it grips the top of the rack instead of being bolted on. Is that something to be worried about?

not at all, they are all like that, maybe except yepp but its not the greatest in other bits, material, design etc. Hamax is the king. The suspension is VERY useful, angle also good.

  • Cool, thanks. Yeah the suspension and recline is what sells the Hamax really. Front suspension and seatpost are fine for me, I'd rather not rattle her teeth out back there. And if she's about to drop off, leaning her back a bit would be good.

  • What's the story behind this?

  • Please do. Thanks

  • Ooft, not ideal! Is it electric? Does it have walk assist if so?

  • I honestly don't have a clue what happened. I was riding as normal, a ped stepped out in front of me so I had to stop suddenly. As I went to pull away it felt like my alfine slipped, but it felt different to the normal slipping, almost like it had snapped a couple of teeth off inside the hub. I carried on and a few feet further it did the same, then a few feet more and the cranks wouldn't turn. I stopped to take a look and saw about 8 inches of teeth completely missing from the belt.
The bike then became unrideable obviously.
I didn't want to quit the shift and cause a problem for my company, so I did the rest on foot, pushing it, through rush hour, from Soho to Covent Garden, Covent Garden to Borough Market, Borough Market to Spitalfields Market, Spitalfields Market to Coal Drops Yard, and Coal Drops Yard to Brewery Road. It took about 2h 15m on top of the 1h 30m I'd already ridden. Then I had to walk for another 1h 15m to get home.
Then had to immediately remove the rear wheel, take off the 50mm tyre, which was obviously filled with sealant so messy as fuck, then swap it for a 37mm to allow for the shorter spare belt I luckily had. Then split and rejoin the frame to fit the new belt.

It wasn't the best day. 🙄

  • No electric. So my legs still feel fucked. Walking fast (and running) for hours in cycling shoes is never fun.

  • Can I see your passport please? I bet you have a full on St George one with pics of great Englishmen (e.g David Beckham)

  • Brutal! Good work out though. Glad you've come up with a solution to get back on the road.

  • Yeah I'd have been screwed otherwise. I just shelled out £250 for new front and rear cogs and a new belt.
The most humiliating thing about it is that I now have a blue belt on there! 🤮

  • How many miles on the last one?

  • Are English children prone to melting in the rain or allergic to fresh air?

Alright there all weather action hero.

how many will actually do the nursery run in the pouring rain?

I do the school run, without a cover, in the dark and rain, whatever the temperature as the alternative is 15 min walk or car, fight for parking, then as long walking as I would have been cycling. So I'm getting a cover.

  • I'm basically getting a year from the drivetrain before it starts to make noise.
I don't monitor my miles though.
