  • I am PC but have managed to avoid BIM for 10 years.

It is always there though. Staring at me from clunky UI.

  • Raeburn, the fashion label I shoot for is hiring a graphic designer:
    https://www.raeburndesign.co.uk/pages/careers

  • Was interested in the job... they want a lot for 23k

  • Anyone on here interested in designing a logo / simple branding for a charity website I’m working with?

  • I could help you with that... PM me more details and I’d be happy to help

  • Thanks @Johnnyw75. Just PM ‘d you.

  • I'll have a crack at this unless it's done or whatever.

  • I’m helping with the redesign of our cycling club kit. It’s pretty dated at the moment and the font used looks like something out of Robocop.

They want the next design to be good for 10yrs. What sort of font should I be looking at for the club name so that it will look modern and stand the test of time?

  • I’m looking for a typographer to make a font out of a distinctive style of handwriting. Does anyone know anyone whose passionate/good with sort of thing? Let me know
    #Typography #handwrittenfont #newfonts #typographer

  • Making a handwriting typeface doesn’t always translate that well with the myriad combinations of letters - I think the preferred method is to use certain characteristic elements from a style rather than trying to replicate it. It’s a bit of a specialist skill (not one of mine at all) and one of those “how long’s a piece of string” things. If you post a sample that might be useful.

  • hey, you still active?

  • thanks for the reply, will post up a sample when I get the chance.

  • Hello boring work related question... We are printing a large amount of hoarding for s building site and they need collating before packing as they come of the print in random orders due to the rip software ect blah blah blah. Anyway. I remember back at college when I used to use in design you could do sequential numbering automatically...... Anyway of doing this to the artboards on illustrator so the prints are numbered and visible when printed. I don't work in graphic design or arworking anymore really but none of the artworkers upstairs seem to know or be arsed to figure it out 😂 I'm aware Google is my friend but thought I'd ask the forum 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Cheers

  • I imagine there’s a script-based solution that can place text on the art board, with the art board name automatically generated. If you’re exporting PDFs for print, you can check the info box, which superimposes file information on the page, including page number.

  • Thanks for the links and information guys, will check it out

  • We're currently seeking a Graphic/Digital Designer who will support the development of the organisations on and offline presence and work within the Marketing and Communications team to creatively communicate key messages, promote the organisation and its subsidiaries and attract its key audiences.

You'll need the ability to take an idea from conception through to execution and delivery and have an adaptable skillset. You will need to have a thorough knowledge of Adobe CreativeSuite and be able to take a photograph within our house style parameters, and film/edit events. You will have excellent digital communication skills including how the content may differ depending on the social, digital or print platform and be a proactive member of the marketing department. You will have excellent communication skills and be a proactive member of the marketing department – a can do attitude is essential.

This is an onsite role and there will be a lot of layout involved, as well as supporting events and some occasional evening and weekend working. Overall, it's an interesting place to work with a wide variety of projects.

    Location: East London
    Salary: £26,000+

PM your CV for further details and for the JD.

  • 26k for a graphic designer who is also a photographer, videographer and is happy working weekends?! lol.

a can do attitude is essential.

    Aha!

  • Didnt graphic designers use to do all this? lol

  • Im being sarcastic, the wage is a farce. Im surprised they haven't got must be able to sweep up too with broom up your arse too.

  • Is the salary really that bad?

It's for a local educational institution, it's a charity. The person will be mostly opening files and updating the date on a poster, or taking a photograph at an event to be posted onto our socials. They might have to make a new poster if it's needed. Or create a banner for the website. For the weekend work, they'll be required to be onsite for three Saturdays a year for 5 hours a pop to support an Open Day. And for the video, the basic requirement is that they know which way to point and to press the record button. Expectations are not that high.

I would have thought it was an ideal first/second job for somebody? They'd get to do some really fun stuff and have loads of opportunity to be creative and once a year they'll get to create stuff to put on billboards, buses, pages in national newspapers etc.

  • then the description is at odds with the actual job. It reads as pretty demanding.

Does it really come across as demanding? To me it reads like it's a nice comfortable job. I can't really see what's in there that's particularly hard or difficult.

  • it’s the broad skillset expected from the description which suggests a whole load of expertise in 3 areas that are usually the jobs of a specialist who would likely be on a higher salary.
